Hello guys,

I received today my new i7 2600K CPU, I havnt used intel in like 8 years lol. CPU-Z is showing me a core speed of 1605. mhz, and changes to 3.5ghz every once in a while. My question is, is this like Intel's Cool and Quiet? Also how can I disable this in order to have the CPU's at default stock. Thanks in advance and sorry for this noob question :|

It's speedstep, or something similar. When your PC doesn't need the power, it downclocks itself, just like a GPU will.

got an 2600k as well @ 5.6ghz my advice is to keep in on then OC it to 5ghz++ so when you play or need raw power, it will give you the sht you need, make the most out of it! :D then when ur downloading or surfing. watching porn, it will stay 1.6ghz idle, just the way you need it :D

I agree with the other to turn it off.

No reason at all to sacrifice cooler temperatures so that you can save the unnoticeable time it would take for the CPU to spped it's clock up.

I agree, unless your benching to get every bit out of the cpu otherwise it will get hotter than usual, loud, and drain a lot more power. Mines shutdown with oc and downclock off from heat.
