I3 or I7 for gaming ?

I was given the option to upgrade from i3 second generation to i7 second generation. Is it worth it ? I play games on 1920pixels, is it gonna boast the gaming fps for me ?

yes. A second gen i3 due to a combination of lack of cores and lower IPC compared to latest cpus is really showing its age while an i7 while it wont match the IPC of newer CPUs due to be a 4core/8 threaded cpu it holds really well. Of course it depends on what kind of graphics card you have . If you have something in the lines of r9 7950/ gtx 770 or better you will see improvements. Anything less than that i doubt it

I have gtx 950 right now and decided to upgrade my i3 with i7. Since i haven't mentioned the graphics card before now please let me know if it will increase my gaming experience or not. Thank you for the responses btw.

in cpu intensive games yes. multiplayer games like battlefield and open world games like witcher. Dont expect wonders though since that gtx 950 isnt powerfull enough to notice big differences between the i3 and i7 if any in most games. But if the price is ok i say go for it. Besides performance increase in some games that i7 will surely last you quite a bit longer than the i3 and if you decide to upgrade GPU then the i7 wont be a big bottleneck unlike the i3
