No, Ive never played Morrowind. How is it better than Oblivion?artiedeadat40
ive never played oblivion but people on this forum bash it alot about how its less roleplay or something like that. i liked morrowind and the expansions added lots of new stuff to. morrowind and the witcher are both good games.
The Witcher plays like **** on windows vista. It crashed on me every 5 minutes even with all the patches installed. Zam
rrhhh,,, it ran smoothly and perfectly on vista x64 with me.
to OP, wait for the enhance version to come out; but if you cannot/don't wanna wait, it's fine, since all the additional stuff will be offered to us old Witcher players for free download.
the only thing is, if the enhance version didn't fix, the save. That's the engine problem: the save game file is big, and if you save fairly often and pile up the save games, the loading time will get slower and slower...; whenever you feel the loading time is too long, be sure to clean up the save game folder.
The Witcher is an amazing game, but very very very very buggy on vista. I crash from time to time (maybe every 1-2 hours), and my framerate really suffers in certain areas (15-30 fps in the Trade Quarter), and it's laughable that with my system, I can't get more than 40 fps max in most areas. I also have a lot of screen tearing during conversations. Also, the loading times can be pretty slow sometimes, you should only keep a few save files because if you have to many it really slows the loading times down.
My system is a 8800GT, Q6600 2.4Ghz, and 3 gigs of ram under vists 32bit.
I hope they fix these problems in the EE, they said they would fix the loading times, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the problems.

Same and agreed.
The Witcher is good, but I only got probably a fifth of the way and then stopped playing to play other games. I might try it again.
im not a huge RPG guy, but my favorites are FABLE:TLC and oblivion, then the witcher. I know that those are probably not the best (especially oblivion), but I like them.
If you liked Oblivion do NOT play morrowind!! you'll get dissapointed, but if you'r hardcore rpg gamer and dont mind the crappy gameplay and grafiks, then morrowind is the game for you... try diablo 2 if you have'nt tryed it. Baldures gate is good, but getting old.:PJeansForever
I don't see how you could say the gameplay in Morrowind is crappy; it's the same as Oblivion's, minus the new combat mechanic. And crappy graphics? Name one game released in 2002 or earlier that looked better.

oblivion isnt a bad game, and i liked it better than morrowind... just i believe the elder scrolls series is extremely overhyped, nothing about it not being a real rpg, cause it is... but i would say the witcher, works fine on vista, if you know what your doing.. the enhanecd version is supposed to make it work great on vista anyway... but i would say the knights of the old republic games if you havent played them too.If you're not afraid of D&D system and don't mind isometric and slightly pixelated graphics and would like some meaningful choices, actions that have consequences, great story and dialogue try Planescape: Torment, Fallout1&2, Arcanum.
If you prefer 3D but still great atmosphere and exploration then try Gothic, Morrowind, KOTOR
Yeah I don't really like The Witcher either. Combat is boring and there are a lot of lame WoW-ish type quests.
Play Knights of the Old Republic if you missed it. Or play a cool game like Quest for Glory IV, with Gimli from LotR narrating. (why do modern games not have awesome narrations, or interesting dialogue?? *cries*)
I would go with KotOR I & II. II was a dissapointment in terms of advances in gameplay, graphics, & design (thank to the worthless dev studio named Obsidian which also ruined NWN II) but it still had a great story despite its cheap text based ending and plays exactly like 1 with bugs and shamelessly recycled maps and areas.
Morrowind is a great game and you can download mods that greatly improve the graphics and character models. This will not make it cutting edge but with these free mods the game looks 3-4 years younger... hell some of the character models in the Better Bodies mod look better than models in some current games. Like others have said, this game is not Oblivion. Morrowind is a much deeper rpg, and actually has more features than Oblivion but the combat is indeed not as good (but Oblivion sucked as well) and the AI is just as bad.
If you prefer gameplay+story over graphics then I also recommend Baldurs Gate II, Planescape Torment, and Fallout I & II. Those are classics that I think every rpg buff should play. Baldurs Gate I was also great and has a graphic resolution mod that allows you to play it in higher resolutions. NWN I is good if you like playing online (hundreds of custom worlds made by DM's and other players and free to play).
Witcher is good, and so is Mass Effect but they arent what I would call memorable or ground breaking in any way.
If you like action rpgs with a laughable story, try Diablo games or Sacred.
