Well its supposed to be at $266. I new article i saw on the internet today even says its supposed to be that price. Even though i see no place for thar price.Killfox
I would of waited for the price to be 266$ unless you really needed a CPU bad.
why didn't you just buy a E6750 for $180 something its a great dual core processor that should of done just fine on any game and you could of saved that money to buy a better quad core for cheap later down the road when you really need one mastershake575
meh, no offense but i wanna play crysis fine, and its only $50 more tham e6750 and more powerfull, $345 for a quad core is cheap think about it.

1. you can't absolutely be serious when you say "i wanna play crysis fine" crytek has already said that the game will run on recommended with a E6600and the E6750 has a better fsb, and speed and unless you have like sli 8800 there's no need for a quad core
2.$50 more try like more than $100 the E6750 is like $235 on newegg and $213 on buy.com with free shipping

On top of that it's the GPU not the CPU that is going to net you a higher FPS count. It's IMHO a large waste of a system build to spend $300 on a CPU... Your biggest gains always come from the GPU and to a certain point the higher up you go on the CPU the less you get on returns.

so u r sayin tah the Q6600 is a waiste and is less powerfull than the e6750?

Well yes since most games barely use 2 cores.

mmm! but the quad cores run in parallel, meaning taht will not use 2 cores in old games, it will use four of them, physics, and rendering can be distributed across each of the four complete execution cores and run in paralell, so again, the Q6600 is more powerfull.

but thoses games arent out yet and by the time there is a game out... new quad core will arive.

In real world performance quad core isn't much better then dual core in todays games.

I didn't really mean it in that sense. If you look at some benchmarks: http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel/showdoc.aspx?i=3038&p=15 doing a quick look & see there's like a 7 FPS max difference in FPS and that costs you about $150 more. If you spent that much extra on a GPU you'd get more FPS.
Core wise though I'd have to agree with you, for gaming I hardly play anything that takes advantage of my dual-core. For multitasking on the other hand it's pretty sweet.

THE q6600 IS BETTER CHOICE! thanx, here isa quote from that page "Our Q6600 recommendation really highlights the major focus of this story"
I got the last from my local MSY. Fantastic huh? i paid $336 Australian dollers, which is about $270 US dollersSamulies
I'll be doing the same but MSY are out of Antec 900s and P35C-DS3R mobos...ive gotta wait a week!!!

Ahah you finally got it - damn you Victorians! They are currently only available in Victoria, hopefully the rest of the country will get it soon as well (got to give the Auburn branch a message about it soon)
My C2D 6850 beats your card in most games and apps. I get in some cases better results than the best intel Quad Core available. Go to Anandtech.com and look at the tests themselves. I got mine today for $300 including thermal paste off mwave. Its already in the mail.stupiddk
but, once the games qill use quad cores like Crysis and alan awake, the quad cores will score better, and the 2 cores will b to low in benchmarks.

1. you won't need a quad core for crysis unless you have like dual 8800gtx ultra's
2. like someone else said your only really gettings a few fps increase for $150 and sometimes even less
3. alan wake doesn't even have a release date yet by the time it comes out there willl be 2-3 series of quad cores out that will murder the Q6600 in performance and be really cheap
