As the title states, I already have The Witcher 3 on PS4 Pro, but I've seen the PC version go on sale on Steam quite a few times but I've always hesitated to take the plunge. I've thought about getting it on PC due to the higher frame rate and better visuals. I'll list my specs below.

Now, I'm FULLY AWARE that I will not be running this in 4K on my system.

Intel Core i7 8700 3.2Ghz

16GB RAM

AMD RX 580 8GB

Windows 10 x64

Your i7 8700 is definitely good. Your RX 580 is a low end card these days, but still decent for 1080p gaming. The Witcher 3 will run at 1080p/60fps if you lower some settings. It will look and run much better than the console versions. I highly recommend you get the PC version.

@duntastar88: The CPU is still good but the RX 580 is showing it's age but still good for modern 1080p gaming wise. I too own Witcher 3 on PS4 & PC and I can totally recommend playing Witcher 3 on PC, 30fps vs 60fps makes a huge freaking difference, it blows the PS4 version right out of the park. Witcher 3 looks good on PC because you can disable Motion Blur and change other settings as well. Here's a vid showing what to expect from playing Witcher 3 on an RX 580:

Word of advice. Turn off HairWorks setting, that setting will strip the performance due to RX 580 being a low-end card. I have an RTX 2070 and I can run Witcher 3 on maxed settings. Other then that, buy it on PC, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the responses. I'll pick it up when it next goes on sale, though probably after Christmas. I know my RX 580 is getting long in the tooth, I mainly bought this system to play games like Cities Skylines. However i've had great results with doom, Battlefield 5 and Forza Horizon 4. I know the PC version of The Witcher 3 was regarded as the best version at launch and given that the game was released in 2015, I thought it might perform quite well on my system, but wanted to know if it would be a worthwhile upgrade from the PS4 version. From what you guys have said, it seems like it will be better

60fps alone is worth it. People complain about the combat in TW3 a lot - I'm convinced most of them are on console playing at 30. It just feels so much more fluid and responsive at 60. A lot of games... Eh, I think 30 is fine. But when I lock TW3 at 30 let's just say I start dying more often

I don't think I could play TW3 again just because it's so goddam huge. And I'm kinda lazy. But I am sure the PC version is worth getting. I have most settings on ultra and getting 60fps on 1080p, easily the most beautiful game I've ever played. Don't worry about hairworks, it actually looks worse than having it off IMO.
