Hi,

So I'm getting a new CPU bungle including a new motherboard and RAM etc. How would I go about moving windows from my current set up so I can install on the new gear I'm getting?

Cheers!

Install a fresh one, that's always recommended

You could clone it but with new hardware you'd probably encounter issues.

I would recommend reinstalling it.

Cheers guys,

I'm definitely going to do a fresh install. What I mean is do I have to remove windows from my current computer as I only have one windows activation code.

Just back everything up and do a fresh install on the same partition your original windows is on. Format the partition as part of the windows installation. Use the same key.

Yes, format your HDD then install.

Cool, cheers guys. So I just save everything I want to keep format my hard drive, stick my new PC together and reinstall windows.

So I don't have to let windows people know my activation code will be used on a new machine or anything?

Chances are it will work, if not a quick phone call should be able to get it sorted.
