How to get No One Lives Forever 1 in HD widescreen?

Hi,

I am trying to get No One Lives Forever 1 to run in widescreen in 16:10 aspect ratio. I tried following these instructions:

Changed the "widescreenwidth" and "widescreenheight" to my desired resolution in autoexec.cfg but it's still stuck in 640x480. :(

Can anyone else tell me what I am doing wrong? I would love to play this game in HD widescreen, I know it's possible. It's just that I don't know what I am doing wrong.
