So how exactly do you check the temperature on your CPU and GPU? Is there a software I can use to see them?

And what's the average temperature for CPUs and GPUs?

It really depends on your GPU and CPU, overclocked or stock settings. My GTX 580 (stock) runs at 35*C indle, @ 40% fan speed. When I'm gaming, it's 47*C @ 60% fan speed. As for CPU, 30*C idle. Overclocked CPU (from 3.4GHz to 3.8Ghz). Not sure what the load temp is, sorry.

Our esteemed colleague Superclocked is wise. My GTX 590 gets pretty hot---it idles around 30C and goes to like 70 under Crysis. The CPU idles 20--30 and gets up to maybe 40 under extreme load, which it never is.

I personally use Core Temp and MSI Afterburner.

My cpu runs at about 50C under load and my gpu about 80C; I have no problems.
