I know no one can never have too many games but what number is just extreme? An example being the recent Square Enix Collection released on Steam. The total collection is around 20 games and I couldn't imagine having time to complete them all; especially with upcoming releases that I would like to purchase. I typically play one or two games at a time because that's all I have time for. I'm usually busy on the weekends and I work during the week so to me such a large collection at once may be a waste of money. I may never get to them all or just forget about some of them completely after a while. I've been really into The Witcher 2 recently and that's been taking up much of my time. How many games do you guys get into at once and do you ever buy those massive collections and have time to finish them?

Saying this as someone with well over a thousand games sitting around me and on digital accounts, and spent hundreds shipping stuff, I tend to focus on a few or dabble with a bunch. Sometimes it's years before I come back to a game and I rarely finish many. Doesn't bother me tbh. Love having a library, collecting games and picking and choosing what to play.

I honestly think if the number of the games you have bought, and haven't played outweighs the number of ones you have (or completed) then I think its time to take a break, and exhaust the ones you have, before spending more money.

I have a small collection compared to most, maybe about 20 games or so and there's a few on there I haven't even finshed. You need tons of free time to be able to complete everything. More complex games can take several hours to complete and even after that there's always extra content in just one game alone.

Just buy the game that you want to play now. Speaking from experience, I used to buy a lot of games when something is on sale, now I got a huge backlog of games sitting here getting dusty.

Yeah, I buy only games I want to play now or know I'll enjoy right after some games I'm about to finish. I don't have much games, but at least most of them are all completed and I didn't spent cash on things I would never play. Mostly when that money could be spent on other things more usefull than collecting dust.

I agree on those packs, typically a publisher/developer pack will feature many of the same games and you'll get sick of them before you even get close to beating them. That's why I only buy games by themselves.

You can never have too many games. As long as you time to enjoy them, you are doing fine. If, however, you are buying them faster than you can play them, well maybe you should take a break from buying and work on your backlog.

I've been gaming since the eighties and according to my database I have 1682 different titles. All of them stored nicely in my attic computer heaven ;)

This guy has the best response, and I say that because I would have almost said the exact same thing.

I work 5 days a week, have a full time girlfriend and the most I can manage is 3 games at once, best way to make time for video games though is to wake up extra early and get in a few hours before anyone notices :P

I am sort of ashamed at how many games I have bought without completing. I made a stack of console games (about a dozen) that I haven't finished that sit next to my desk. I keep them there as a reminder, and sometimes I play them. I was sick last week, and while I wasn't sleeping, I finally finished two of those games.

I don't think I can do the same with my Steam library, because it is bigger than both my Xbox and PS3 collections combined. :?

Most of you have nice collections that i'm jealous of. But at the same time i'm glad i don't have that many games because i already complain about my backlog as it is :P

If you're struggling to decide on what to play and then find yourself jumping from game to game by merely dabbling with one without settling to progess through it, then yeah, you probably have too much on the plate.

I dont think its possible to have too many games. As long as buying games isn't detrimental to your personal finances.

I definitely have too many and need to take a break before buying more. Too bad I just pre-ordered Dead Space 3, Bioshock Infinite, and Luigi's Mansion 2... :(

I buy what I want and what I want to support, sometimes just to support and that usually ends up with me having one too many games. At the rate new games are popping out, and older ones are going on sale, it's really difficult to catch up, especially when you're strapped on cash; you just want to buy anything that's on sale that you didn't get the chance to buy when it was too expensive.
