I was thinking about buying a laptop and was just curious how well it runs current games?

yesThink the price gap between a 660m and a 680m is worth it?

will make your laptop last a lot longer
and won't change your battery life since your laptop most likely has optimus
yes[QUOTE="Darkslayer16"]

+1 But technically wouldn't it decrease the laptops life (assuming the 680m runs hotter than the 660m) due to more heat?[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]yes[QUOTE="Darkslayer16"]

+1 But technically wouldn't it decrease the laptops life (assuming the 680m runs hotter than the 660m) due to more heat? Assuming you are actually playing games on it, you're probably going to be plugged into an outlet anyways. Optimus technology will prolong battery life because if you're using the laptop for everyday usage and not gaming on the go as it will just use the Intel IGP for all the video needs, the 680m essentially is turned off until you run a graphic demanding application.[QUOTE="achilles614"][QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"] yes+1 But technically wouldn't it decrease the laptops life (assuming the 680m runs hotter than the 660m) due to more heat? I meant GPU lifespan, the 680m has more heat it has to deal with (or maybe less since 670>680 is fermi to kepler but I was more talking lifespan in terms of 660>680 so kepler to kepler). I have a 670m in my laptop and yes the optimus tech is pretty cool it makes it less sucky having a power hungry laptop.will make your laptop last a lot longer

Blicen
I have a old asus rog laptop with the 580m and it plays all games, not like my gaming pc but pretty good
I have a 580m in my laptop and have no issues running all the latest games on high/ultra , so the 680m I would assume shouldnt have any issues either . As far as heat goes, get a decent laptop cooler . I use one and my GPU temps never go over 67 degress after hours of gaming .
