How good is a 680M for gaming?

BF3 on high I'd imagine. Maybe ultra depending on how smooth you want.

well my asus has a 460M and its run everything I;ve tried maxed out, so I'd assume the 680M could do the same.

Assuming you are actually playing games on it, you're probably going to be plugged into an outlet anyways. Optimus technology will prolong battery life because if you're using the laptop for everyday usage and not gaming on the go as it will just use the Intel IGP for all the video needs, the 680m essentially is turned off until you run a graphic demanding application.

Pulled from another thread post on another forum, comparing a 675M to a 680M in the same chassis. Schenker XMG P702 with 675M have these temperatures for the GPU: Battlefield 3: 77 °C Furmark: 96 °C Room temperature when this was measured: 22 °C Power consumption: 124-218W on load Schenker XMG P702 with 680M have these temperatures for the GPU: Battlefield 3: 70 °C Furmark: 85 °C Room temperature when this was measured: 26 °C Power consumption: 106-183W I guess its pretty safe to say it should last quite awhile.

I have a old asus rog laptop with the 580m and it plays all games, not like my gaming pc but pretty good

I have a 580m in my laptop and have no issues running all the latest games on high/ultra , so the 680m I would assume shouldnt have any issues either . As far as heat goes, get a decent laptop cooler . I use one and my GPU temps never go over 67 degress after hours of gaming .

Sweet, good to know heat doesn't affect the lifespan of computer components. I mean it's not like people always bring up "oh noes the gaming laptop dies fast because they get so hot".

Do you think they would have even made it if it was going to die so soon? And this isn't even that big of an issue since it doesn't use that much power and you are going to be on optimus most of the time anyway.

Lol that what somebody said my card would do and its basicly the same power of a gtx 460.
