Hey people. Does anybody know any decent point and click adventures with a horror theme/atmoshere? Classic games or modern indie games are both good. All I can think of at the moment is sanitarium (I have to buy it some day...) and The White Chamber.

Scratches, Darkness Within 1-2 , Penumbra (not really point and click but still great adventure game), Barrow Hill, Dead Reefs, Well Black Mirror 1-2 has some horror elements...And pay no heed to the GS reviews, see the critics consensus and the user scores.

Well it isn't a point and click but Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth is a really great horror game and extremely underrated and unknown by most people.

Not point and click adventure games. You should try out Gabriel Knight 2 and Phantasmagoria. They're probably the only really great FMV titles ever made. You can find both at Gog.com, I believe.

not point and click but "the path" will REALLY get your head twisted around something fierce.. seriously ive yet to meet a game as in-depth or as stunning.

in fact some say "the path" isnt a game at all rather art in motion.

I think you should definitely check out Downfall and see what you think. I picked it up on D2D earlier this year when it was on sale, and have really, really enjoyed it. The story is exceptionally morbid, the low-fi graphics do a really good job highlighting the violence and horror, and the puzzles aren't bad either. It's definitely a very cool little indie game, and it definitely gave me the chills.

I'm gonna say this again, don't pay attention to Gamespot scores when it comes to adventure games, the reviewer is crazy his scores are always 4 points down from the average critic and user score.

It's not quite horror, but certainly unsettling - perhaps Sanitarium? 8)

Great game. It certainly was unsettling. For Horror FPS go for Doom 3, System Shock, Dead Space or two of my personal faves; Call of Cthulhu DCOE or and this is an oldie, Clive Barker's Undying. P&C - Scratches for sure was one of the more recent ones. I still feel that Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiemm on the Gamecube was one of the best if not the best horror game.

Scratches is a great game! Don't listen to the GS review. It's a bunch of bull.

Decay is a really good indie point and click game. Very dark and scared the bejesus out of me a few times. There are 4 parts you can download. I got hooked on them.

Penumbra! I can't really think of many things that fit the criteria besides Penumbra.
