So I brought my computer home from a trip and i was setting it up like normal. When I turn it on it makes this horrible chugging noise. like ch ch ch ch ch ch, so i turned it off. When i turned it back on, nothing sounded wrong, everything seemed to be working, BUT nothing comes up on the monitor. Ive spent a couple days playing around with the hardware, trial and error kind of stuff but i've drawn a blank. It seems that the graphics card is working, the cd drive, and the hard drive is working. I haven't been able to test the cpu or motherboard so i would imagine it's one or both of those. There weren't any loose screws or anything like that and as far as i could tell everything was plugged in.

It's like a two year old computer so a new processor wouldn't be that bad

ecs mobo, 1 gig ram, 300 gb hd, 256 agp x1300 pro, and 2.8 p4 processor.

So if anyone had a problem like that PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

Sounds like you burned something out or something. Better get out your check book.

Make sure your cpu heatsink is still attached correctly to your motherboard. Things liike this have a tendency to "shake" loose when you travel with a desktop.
