Sent this message to a friend of mine through email. Has not responded yet, so sorry if I mention anything that might sounds odd (especially the first sentence).

Dude... having some issues with the computer. Everything has been running great for a few months.Though there are a couple of minor problems on boot and sometimes shutting down. Whenever I turn the computer on, (I have Windows 8 btw) it will load all the way until it shows the screen with the stratosphere or whatever you like to call it. Whenever it is right before the homescreen, its just black, and it forces me to restart. Restarting it has a 50% chance of it not happening again, and if it does, I just have to keep on restarting. Another minor problem is when I am shutting the computer down, it either takes a extremely long time before it does, or it just does not shut down.

The last problem I have is a common issue, computer wakes itself up when put to sleep. I have tried unchecking all of my devices so it does not attempt to wake the computer up, but somehow it still does. Whenever I feel lazy and don't shut the computer down (which is what I have to do now), I unplug every device I have from the computer, and then let it sleep. This somehow works, but its just annoying doing this process.

This may be a stupid question, but does shutting your computer down every time you do not use it have a effect that will eventually take place? I am just curious, because this whole having to shut down computer thing is really annoying. Thanks in advance.

Standard question: All drivers are updated? I know that sometimes those will cause issues with sleep mode. It did with my laptop.

Think it might be a hdd or psu issue? If not, I'm stumped.

When exactly did the problem start? Up to what point was it working fine, and what changed?

It was working fine up until about mid February. Normally, when I would boot the computer up, everything would load within 10 seconds, with no problems. Now, it would freeze right after the loading screen, and the whole screen would just be black. I literally had to restart my computer about 5 times before I could even log in!

Most likely. How would you boot it in safe mode? Never tried it before.

Press F8 (better keep pressing), while computer starts, right after the BIOS splash screen. If on Windows 8, you will have to hold shift key and press F8. There you will see troubleshooting options, including safe mode.

Ok cool thanks. Will try it out later on in the day after work. What exactly does it do? Because Im still not sure whether or not it will solve the issue/

It may not solve it, but it will tell something about the problem, or rather eliminate one of the causes for the problem, such as driver problems. Safe mode starts with minimal "things".

Minimal things as in, it would still start uo with everything loaded, but it would just take longer until you can use any program, or minimal things as if it only boots up with the most important, or least in size kind of things?

safe mode will disable all the drivers etc. If you can get into safe mode just fine, then more then likely, the issue is caused by a driver conflict/corrupted. Could also be a program that is set to run at startup causing the issue.

And if you still see the same result, you have bigger problems on your hand.
