No. The core (graphics chip) temperature at 98 C is what counts. I've never heard of a card being that hot, let alone at idle! My X1650XT is 58 C idle (core) and that card is known to run quite hot. What is your case airflow like? How many case fans? Rear and exhaust fans? All working properly? Positioned the correct way so that air is being sucked in (from front fan) and exhausted (by rear fan)? Put you hand at the back of your case to feel how warm the air is from the exhaust fan. Ideally it should feel just above room temperate, say around 30 C. You should also try taking the side case cover off your tower and blowing some cool air into it and see if that helps the temps. If that doens't help, then your card could be faulty. Temp monitoring software shouldn't be the problem.
man the cpu has nothing 2 do with the gpu overheating. just open the side cover of the case, also get a living room fan n put it on ur pc, lol :P my friend does that.
The optical drives don't matter. What matters is your CPU, Graphics card, HDD, RAM and PSU. It also doesn't help your motherboard's chipset heatsinks either.

That's 80mm, 92mm and 120mm.
Do they use the same power connectors as Hard Drives, CD ROMS and my GPU?
It depends on the size of the mounts in your case. Measure them from corner to corner (diagonally). Most fans will use a molex connector which is the standard connector from you PSU (yes, the same as HDD's etc). Some will have a 3 pin connection which plugs directly into a motherboard fan header and some will have both.
My buddies 6800GT used to hit 95c when gaming and would idle around 75c, they are some HOT cards with the stock cooler. I told him to get one of these, and his temperatures now don't even hit 60c.

Are they easy to unfit and fit? Don't bother lol. I take it you're not THAT familiar with computer's from this whole fan problem so I wouldn't attempt to mess around with the cooler on a graphics card. No offense intended! You GPU fan is fine as it's made to factory standards. You'll find that when the cool air rushes through your case chassis, your temps will drop significantly. What sort of fans have you ordered?

My mobo only has one fan connector, so do I fit the one case fan Exhaust or Intake?
The screws should be supplied with an Antec fan so you'll be ok. I'd fit the front one via the motherboard as 80mm's are usually noisy when run off a molex (full speed). Those Antec one's may be a bit quieter than a cheap one. :)Â
