[QUOTE="Fightingfan"][QUOTE="MonsieurX"]Cowon make great products alsoMonsieurXCowon can't make a UI to save their life though, I had to return my J3 or s9 a years back. Never had any problem with my S9's UI It's counter intuitive in comparison to Google's or Apple's; though it could of also simply been the hardware, the processor in those things isn't exactly superb.
Samsung offers an Ipod alternative. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-YP-GS1CB-XAA-3-6-Inch-Galaxy/dp/B007M6EYU2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354835162&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+mp3Fightingfan
Some versions of the Galaxy player can be loaded with Voodoo Sound to take advantage of the internal WM8994 DAC/AMP.
I recently bought a 16gb Samsung Galaxy S wifi 5.0 to replace my iPod. I never had an issue with the iPod per se - it was iTunes that I despised. It works a treat - drag and drop, sounds awesome, and with a 32gb micro SD added into the mix, has room for an insane amount of music. Happy to recommend it.
Unfortunately, due to smartphones taking over the market in recent years, the MP3 player market has dwindled into an almost obsolescence state. That's not to say that you still can not pick up a decent player.
If sound quality is your primary concern, consider either a Sandisk Sansa clip variation with a micro-sd card for extra capacity. Or a Cowon J3 (If you can find them).
