Title pretty much says it all.

I want something with a decent amount of space.

Any thoughts?

It's counter intuitive in comparison to Google's or Apple's; though it could of also simply been the hardware, the processor in those things isn't exactly superb.

What's your budget?

How big of a device are you willing to use?

What headphones will you be using with this player?

Does it need to play video or other media?

If it uses SD memory cards to attain greater storage, is that fine?

Some versions of the Galaxy player can be loaded with Voodoo Sound to take advantage of the internal WM8994 DAC/AMP.

I recently bought a 16gb Samsung Galaxy S wifi 5.0 to replace my iPod. I never had an issue with the iPod per se - it was iTunes that I despised. It works a treat - drag and drop, sounds awesome, and with a 32gb micro SD added into the mix, has room for an insane amount of music. Happy to recommend it.

8GB sansa clip.

You can also add an SD card to this, and add either 32gb or 64gb to the total space. Cards are pretty cheap too. It is a small device with great sound and with rockbox on it can play everything you want from lossy to lossless.

The Galaxy player is good and can be had at an affordable price. Alternatively, if you've got a Galaxy S phone or other decent phone, you could buy a larger SD card and load it full of music?

You can put a cheap micro sd card into it to expand the storage.

Unfortunately, due to smartphones taking over the market in recent years, the MP3 player market has dwindled into an almost obsolescence state. That's not to say that you still can not pick up a decent player.

If sound quality is your primary concern, consider either a Sandisk Sansa clip variation with a micro-sd card for extra capacity. Or a Cowon J3 (If you can find them).
