Can someone recommend me a good gaming keyboard? I mostly want one for FPS's like Call of Duty. I'm not bothered about the price.

Expensive keyboards are useless in simple FPSs like CoD, as stated above the only edge they have over average 15$ keyboards are macros.

If you are really interested in uber-KBs, I'd suggest a Logitech G15.

Logitech G19 - 200$ or Razer BlackWidow Ultimate - 130$

oh and BTW gaming accecories doesn't improve your skill, just a bit or more comfortable keys and faster reaction time. I'm playing with a 20$ keyboard+mice but I'm always NO'1 on board when it comes to FPSs.

Hmm, lemme see, so far my favorite one has been the new G15 (I know it is shocking).

I just like that the backlighting is survivable (altho something like the g19 and a good deal of the razer ones can change colors)

The few things I do like with a gaming keyboard is the amount of buttens pressed at once before ghosting sets in, and I do like that they can keep track of the time, emails, cpu and ram usage while you play.

Overall I think the G19 is one of the better ones around, Razer has a few mechanical keyboards however, and they might be worth looking into :P altho they do not have a small lcd to keep track of the none gaming things, it is fairly anomonous, which is nice, they do in theory offer the best kinds of keyboards around. Mechanical keyboards just tend to be a bit on the spicy side :P I think the black widow is one of the mechanicals if I remember correctly. (That is an awesome keyboard)

From Logitech I like more their slim cordless keyboard (I have the DiNovo 2.0, the DiNovo Edge is also nice) and from Razer the Lycosa (the Black Widow is too bulky for my tastes).

I'll bet the Lycosa due the retroilumination lacking in the Logitech slim keyboards, is wired, but in a keyboard isn't as annoying as in a mouse.

I use the Logitech G15 and I'm very satisfied. It's much cheaper than the G19 keyboard so I'd really recommend it. I don't think the G19 is worth the price.

Just as long as you can press the buttons, its a keyboard you can use.. for gaming.

You will need a keyboard that has easy to press buttons, and won't break when getting tapped or the letters fading away quickly.

Logitech G15/19? They seem to be the most popular from what I've seen. I always tend to stick with standard ergonomic keyboards, been using a Comfort Curve 2000 for the last few years.

I own a razer and a G19 - I have them set up on different computers. I prefer my G19.

Bottom line: if you want to spend that kind of cash, razer and upper echelon logitech keyboards are both great.

I dont particularly think specialized keyboards can help you in games at all unless its for Macros / MMORPG games.

Any keyboard that feels good to you is fine. Simple FPSs like Call of Duty don't use the macros that high-end Razer or Logitech have. The real important tool for a shooter is the mouse.

lol @ people suggesting cheap rubber dome logitech and razer garbage. If you're serious about a REAL keyboard. Get a mechanical keyboard they are infinitely more comfortable, responsive, and will last forever. Read the link I provided, educated yourself on the subject... and decide for yourself.

I have a Logitech G11 and when I press the keys, it feels like there is bubble gum underneath. It's crap for gaming :(

The main advantage mechanical keyboards have over "gaming keyboards" is the response time of keystrokes. Mechanical keyboards click when you press them and push the keys back up with a spring. Gaming keyboards don't, they use a cheap rubber dome to push they key back up.

Here is what's under a typical gaming keyboard. As you can see, the rubber compresses and then pushes back up. Very simple design to save costs. If you take a key off your keyboard, notice how there is a rubber dome underneath.

This is what's under each key of the IBM Model M, a mechanical keyboard. The result is responsive feedback, allowing you to type faster.

I still think the difference is negligible for gaming, but if you want to have the "best gaming keyboard" then a mechanical keyboard will be better.

Eh..you probably don't want something branded as a "gaming keyboard" if you want sturdy...

You'd want to go for brands like Filco. I've been watching the GSL and that seems to be what some pro Starcraft 2 players are using (Fruit Dealer, who recently won something like $90k, is using what looks like a Filco Majestouch.)

Personally, I would only suggest a gaming keyboard to someone if they want more buttons for macros and for backlighting to the keys. When you're playing a game like Amnesia The Dark Descent (and you have your lights turned off), it really comes in handy.

Depends on what style of keyboard you want. I can't look past the Razer Lycosa despite its lack of features; love the low profile keys.

Most gaming keyboards are gimmicks. g11/15/19 are all just cheap rubber dome keyboards with extra button and led. If you're spending a lot on a keyboard, ie 100$+ then aim for a high quality mechanical keyboard...
