Hey, I'm looking for a good and free firewall and antivirus. i was thinking Comodo for the firewall but I am not sure about the anti virus. Is Windows Defender an anti virus? Cause I have that already but I am not sure what it is exactly. Also, is Comodo actually any good? Thanks.

If you're worried about incoming traffic, the Windows firewall can work fine. Any of the free 3 (AVG, Avast, Avira) work well enough, though I prefer Avira by far myself (edit: it's the most lightweight out of the 3 while also having the best detection rates, which I like!)

If you are behind a router, you don't need a firewall (routers are hardware firewalls). If you are still scared, just use the windows one- there is no reason to bog down your system with something that won't help you in the long run.

Just google it, the way routers (not splitters) handle incoming traffic at least acts as a simplistic firewall through network address translation. However, some manufacturers beef up the security so it is more robust (and they can advertise it).

Thank you everyone for replying, I think I am going to go with the Windows Firewall because I tried Zone Alarm and Comodo, and I wasn't big fans of both of them. As for Anti-Virus/Spyware I'm using AVG right now and it seems to be pretty good, but I'm wondering which one is more of a resource hog, AVG or AVast?

Avast and windows firewall. Windows firewall is the best free firewall... it let's you open passive ports and is generally secure.
