So I recently got a new laptop that is a Dell Inspiron 5566, and I was wondering if it would be safe to download Steam onto it. I've done it before on much older computers and it always seems to slow the computer down an incredible amount. Does anyone know if it would do the same to this computer or if it would be powerful enough to run Steam?

Steam doesn't really affect the speed of your computer if at all. The issue you should be worrying about is that your computer may not be powerful enough to run most games that Steam has to offer.

You can put Steam basically on any machine. Also like they said steam doesn't effect your CPU performance. Sounds like your OS needs reinstalled or you need a better PC bud.

It isn't going to slow down your PC, but there isn't anything really new that you could play with that.
