Gamespy, Free or not?

Hey guys, I'm planning to play Borderlands online but I read we need to register on Gamespy. Last time I went to register on Gamespy, it said I needed to pay. It was a monthly fee which was unusual I think. Is it still free or we really need to pay to use Gamespy?

Yeah Gamespy accounts are free.

Couda sworn I posted a reply, strange. It's free and all it means is that Gamespy hosts the servers. You login with a Gamespy account which is free.

I was about to as the same question he did and I never saw his other post. His question helped me answer mine, your reply to him was totally useless.
