I recently got a new computer after using a really crappy low-end laptop for ages, and I've been itching to start gaming. I'm not exactly sure where to start at this point though.

Game play really doesn't matter to me, but I'd prefer non-shooter games and I guess something relatively easy. I'd really like something with a good story and characters, and good graphics is a must. Any recommendations?

Skyrim, Dishonored, and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor all come to mind. Also, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

@wolvesgobark: Alan Wake if you don't mind a spooky ghost story. It's not really that scary at all, it's more thriller than horror. It has incredible 10/10 graphics and well told story. Cheap on Steam too. I'd check it out if I were you. The Metro and Bioshock series both have decent stories and A+ graphics but are shooters. Still worth checking out.

Also Dragon Age: Inquisition is exactly what you need too (good story and good graphics).
