Ok it's simple what you want to do is go to Ibuypower.com

Choose the Amd Athlon 64 X-2 configurator

Just take the Eagle Tech Side winder case it'll suffice

Go with the standard case power supply

Take the AMD Athlon 64 X-2 6000

Take the 790X cross fire mobo (the chipset on the mobo enhances speed and visuals for Ati Cards)

Take the Ati Radeon HD 3870 512 MB GDDR4 VRAM (SPEED/Performance)

Take 2 Gb's of RAM (that's all you'll need for a while)

Take the 160 GB HD and the standard Dual CD/DVD RW

Go with the speakers the keyboard and mousethat are originally selecteddon't change em if you want to keep the budget

Take windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

You get a 3 year limited warranty and lifetime technical support (wow wayyyy better than Dell)

Now buy a 20" Acer LCD Monitor off of Newegg for $180

You have everything you need within 1k.

The motherboard has an extra slot if you want to go cross fire*note you do not need identical cards when using cross fire unlike SLI

For instance a nice cheap upgrade you could do after a while you decide that you may want to upgrade youur computer even further with your next pay check to go from High to Very High on Crysis.

That's a can do.

Go to newegg purchase another 3870 or a 3850 for an upgrade.

Install em for a 3850 it'll cost an extra $130 for 3870 $230

You will need a new power supply no sweat

There's a 750 W thermaltake Cross Fire support PSU that costs $190 but will do the trick

that's more than enough power for 2 55nm cards.

Either you can add the 3850 with Psu it will cost an extra 320 that will last you a while

or the 3870 which will costa toal arround 420 that is an upgrade that will last you for a long time as well and play crysis on highsest settings for the most part. You'll have to lower the AA and AF just a bit but it justifies it for paying a toal of 1,420 bucks and you get a PC that can handler todays and even tommarows demanding games.

ibuypower? Wouldn't you save even more money if you just built it all by yourself?

True that most people aren't willing to build a PC...but on this forum, you can bet that most of us are more for building our own machines.

Unfortunately most people buy from dell and get swindled when it comes to performance. You can bet that if Dell sold a computer to these specs it would cost over 3k

I definitely agree with you there (about the laziness), but the PC Hardware forum isn't the best place for it. Try sneaking this in the general games discussion...

Is this an advertisement?

For $1000, it isn't bad (assuming you put a 3870 in there).
