A year ago I got a Geforce 7900 GT/GTO. Six months later, I was sending it back due to artifacts and dead pixels that rendered games unplayable, resulting in crashes and stretched meshes, etc. Now, another six months later, it's been 'fixed' but I JUST saw an artifact playing Oblivion. It was a small little 'spike' coming off the character that shouldn't have been there. This is basically the same warning sign I was getting the first time around, but most of the other problems have yet to occur.

Help?

You cant really get much help here.. All we could tell you is to talk to tech reps about your situation. Is it overclocked at all? Is your case well ventilated?

Did they say last time what caused the problems?

I'm thinking that it might be heat related, are you able to check what temperature the Video Card is after playing a game?

Yeah, take the card out and make sure that dust isn't clogging up the heat sink.

No overclocking, and there are vents and fans going.

...Yeah, okay, I opened it up and it burnt my hand. How do I make it cooler? Cause the fan is going, and it's ventilated.

Have you had any other problems with any other parts in the PC?

Edit: Have you got a fan at the front blowing air in and a fan at the back blowing air out?

Just the two little fans in the case... there aren't air holes on two sides, just the side and the very back, so should I be good if I put a fan at the side and another at the back?

Also, the other problems with the first card were complete crashes of the computer with a message on start up telling me the display driver screwed up, and I'd updated the drivers. There were also many, many dead pixels, that 'copied' onto the background when I scrolled, leaving long trails. None of that's happened, though.

I don't think the other parts have any problems, but the monitor has been known to 'crackle and pop', and feels really hot to the touch.

Yea, just make sure that you've got at least one fan blowing in and one blowing out, as that'll increase the airflow in the case.

All right, it's been a while and now the card's GPU is 50 degrees celsius, and still hot to the touch. How bad is this?

Besides putting a fan on the side and a fan on the back to help circulate more air into the case, I would also suggest having another cooling fan pointed right at your video card.

It turns out the Geforce 7900 just has this problem, it's got nothing to do with heat. So, does anyone know how to get them to replace this faulty card with another, better kind of card? Or am I just going to have to go buy a solid ATI one, which I just don't have the money for?
