I'm on the verge of maybe actually getting this so this is a reassurance topic. Any better choices I could make that will stay around the same price?

This list was formed partly by my friend (who's been trying hard to get his first really good PC for a while and definitely knows more than me) and partly by some guys at the gamefaqs PC forum.

Oh and how powerful would this be compared to say.. The PS4/Xbone?

when the link is clicked, at least for me, it asks me to choose parts as if nothing is selected.

@IcyFlamez96: The link is working for me. I'd personally change the GTX 770 for a r9 280x. It's cheaper and provides almost the same level of performance, and you get an extra GB of VRAM with it too. You could use that money instead toward an i7-4770k, although you won't get much of a performance gain on most games right now.

Here ya go..

$74.99 w/ promo code EMCWXWR38 - <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128627">GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P AM3+ 970 ATX Motherboard</a>

Or, if you think that you might want to add another 7970 sometime down the road, get a 990fx board instead..

$104.99 - <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157281">ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AM3+ 990FX ATX Motherboard</a>

Been thinking about getting that board. Will be a month or so before I can. My current won't let me OC my cpu from the bios. Well I can, but it results in me having to pull my battery if I reboot my computer, otherwise I get a black screen. Plus I want to have the ability to add another card, without the x4 :P

Which CPU do you have? You'll probably want something with a more robust power delivery system. I would get the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 or MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 for overclocking. They're about $20 more expensive, but both have an 8+2 VRM phase design (checkout the number of mosfets and capacitors near the CPU socket). The ASRock 990FX Extreme3 only has a 4+1 VRM phase design, so I wouldn't try and pull more than 125w from the CPU socket...
