Postal 2 is pretty emotional. One of Gary Colmans final roles.

I really liked Bastion, if you have more time to invest you should try The Witcher series. Braid, Limbo and Hotline Miami are very interesting too, they give you little explanation about their story, leaving you to wonder. :) Have fun!

Then I got nothing. Story quality is not really my department. I'm actually into R&D

Iron Brigade http://www.gamespot.com/iron-brigade/

this game had an interesting but i wouldnt say epic story - if anything it was quite simple story. But it does have co-op, but I never played it with co-op, just by myself and I played the 360 version so I can't comment on if the PC version has any flaws.

I'd say Starcraft 1 and 2 are both pretty epic and complicated storys, but they have no campaign co-op... and they are RTS so they may not be your thing.

All the Halo games have had co-op i think, but the PC ports are crap so i can't say play them, plus the storylines are epic overall but very vague and confusing trying to understand them from just playing through the games without future research on them from the books, but theres no doubt u have likely played at least one of these games.

Mass Effect, no co-op that i can think of but has a good storyline and epic feel and has PC versions.

thats all i can think of right now

Planescape: Torment, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer and The Longest Journey would be the games with the best stories ever told.

They're old, but they're unique and have no modern equivalent, so they're worth a playthrough to experience considering there's literally nothing els like them, or as good as them as far as writting is concerned.

You could try Far Cry 3. In many aspects the story was quite good, even if it didn't fit most of the gameplay.

KOTOR, although I dont think the game aged well gameplay wise. And other BioWare games like the Mass Effect series and the first Dragon Age too.

Alan Wake if you're into survival horror.

Dragon Age series, Mass Effect series

Get RDR if you own a console, that was such a great game.

Enslaved had a very strong story.

Sad to say but I think the strongest story-driven games are on PS3, like Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, etc, I call my PS3 my "emo box" because there's always some game that makes me moody.

Most, if not all LucasArts' point & click -adventure games have a brilliant story.

I would recommend to try Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island 1 & 2, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango; cool cartoonish graphics with tons of laughs and great storyline.

I know of a game but I doubt you will like it so I won't recommend it.

If you are looking for games with great stories then most of the ones that would qualify for that are lacking a bit in gameplay.
