I won't be getting it but that's because I'm not an Elder Scrolls Fan, but looks pretty good to me.

Everyone is jumping on the MMO bandwagon these days.mep69Maybe, but if any game can be a perfect setting for an MMO, Elder Scrolls is definately the one. It has so much lore and such a big area.
The dealmaker/breaker for me is whether the combat uses the same system like the Elder Scrolls games, or is a numbered hotkey orgy. If the latter, I will forget about it.
I believe it's a combination of both. The dealmaker/breaker for me is whether the combat is persistent like the Elder Scrolls games, or a numbered hotkey orgy.

This looks promising, but I am a little worried about them doing just 1 serverSweetbackhairI think it's one big server but it will have instances like Guild Wars 2 does.
Game looks like every other mmo. scotty992Well, there's just so much you can do with an MMO, but I personally thought the locations had the artistic design of Skyrim graphics.
[QUOTE="DanielDust"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"] Well, there's just so much you can do with an MMO, but I personally thought the locations had the artistic design of Skyrim graphics.FelipeInsideWeird, because it's pretty much identical to GW 2 with little to resemble any of the TES games. The graphics I was talking about, the artistic design. To me some areas looked a lot like you were playing Oblivion or Skyrim. I wasn't talking about gameplay. http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2012/10/18/tamriel-now-and-then-places I saw no gameplay, I was talking about just that, graphics and artistic design.
The only thing I can say about its gameplay, if running around and using a few attacks and spells to show off can be considered gameplay, is that it's as terrible as any Bethesda game all developed onto the equally bad foundation that is given by the engine and everything related to all those development tools of a complete failure of a MMO.
It sounds to me like they are leaving out the two most important elements of the Elder Scrolls' combat systems, physics and free aiming. Most MMORPGs have so many immersion breakers. Lack of physics, the ability to walk right through enemies and players, and combat systems that involve little more than pressing hotkeys to pull off your spells and active skills in battle which auto-aim to their target are all examples of these immersion breakers.
The real-time system they are describing is only a baby step in evolving the MMORPG combat systems. It sounds like Guild Wars 2 already does it. The Elder Scrolls Online is off my radar. I'm looking forward to both Darkfall: Unholy Wars, and Planetside 2 on the 20th. Years from now, I'm keeping an eye on Embers of Caerus. Eventually, the MMO industry has to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the future of combat innovation.
It looks cool if you ignore the fact that gameplay wise, it has nothing in common with any main TES game...
...Then again, I'm not one to ignore things.
The more information that gets out about this, the more optimistic I'm getting about it. It looks like they're putting some serious effort into making something that plays differently than most of the competition.
Whether you're an Elder Scrolls or an MMO fan, you should be tracking this game!
Would it be too early to call this the first true successor to WoW?
I think they will add them for later expansions, those two being whole other continents. Will the mmo have areas like akavir and atmora?

I thought that was Warcraft :P
Themepark :(
Anyway incoming rant, bit of a mmorpg rant in general and not only specifically aimed at TES.
I am worried they'll fall into a whole bunch of mistakes such as:
- Level zones handled poorly. Star Wars is the perfect 100% perfect example of this. I don't know the specific name but you know that Las Vegas inspired city with casinos and all that? Horrible, why would you turn such a beautiful city and turn it "level specific"? It makes it desolate because no one lower than 20 will visit and no one higher than 30 will visit and there was no other reason than "quest" to visit that place. This is a problem I find with themepark mmorpgs I've played, sometimes they ruin great areas by narrowing down the "targeted visitors"(like a city with quests for level 10-20. First days the zone will feel alive, then it will be dead because there's no reason to ever visit them again. The absolutely best way to kill off the atmosphere of a city!)
- Crafting a la WoW. Crafting should be a major factor of a mmorpg and that means it should be fun and interactive. There should be more than just a grind and it should feel like you are actually doing some handywork. Vanguard and Final Fantasy 14 are good examples of how I like my crafting. I also think Pirates of the Burning Sea had a cool gathering system.
- Level scaling in PvP. Ewww! EWWW!!! The whole point of a mmorpg is character progression, we want to create an apprenctice, turn him into a wizard that is superior to everyone else. Way to remove that feeling, when a level 10 transforms to level 50.
- No proper small scale pvp (1v1). Go outside Orgrimmar, tell me what you see. People love duelling 1vs1 yet every mmorpg refuse to properly give us this.
- Turning battlegrounds into PvE. Using a catapult to attack a wall is not why I spent hours mastering my FIREBALL OF AWESOMENESS to pure perfection. It's barely PvP. :|
- Typical gear progression a la WoW such as collecting tokens by doing dungeons on extra hard difficulty to acquire a purple item. Works in WoW now it's an unfortunate standard and developers seem to think there is no other way.
- Story focused mmorpg with choices? Uh ow, last time I heard how that was gonna be the best thing ever was with SWTOR and we all know how that turned out.
- Making endgame the only important thing. Just let us become level 50 instantly then, if that's all that matters. Why even have gear available if it don't matter, pff. The whole game should feel relevant, not just the final level...
Judging by how the rest of all the mmorpgs this gen have turned out, I say it's pretty safe to say that this game will feel very "safe". (bland, boring, unoriginal etc).
But to comment some of the actual video: I sure hope the movement and animation gets fixed later on. For some reason, WoW and GW2 are the only mmorpgs that seem to actually know how to make running comfortable, smooth, and not glitchy/weird.

I think between WoW and now GW2, any MMO entering the market is really going to have to push the envelope. If they take the standard gear progression route, they will have to trump WoW in dungeon and class design/balance, which won't happen out the gate. If they can't accomplish this like many other MMOs, people will just ask why bother and go back to WoW.
It really doesn't help that the gameplay looks archaic. I think after playing GW2, myself and many other players will find it difficult to stomach the standard stand there and attack till things are dead. This is my personal input, but after experiencing dodge rolling(and more twiched based gameplay overall in an mmo), I think that I could never go back to the EQ standard.
If you would have asked me years ago how well an ES MMO would do, I'd say it would have a chance to topple WoW, but after seeing ToR I've learned that no matter how big the name is the MMO playerbase ultimately decides a games fate.
I would probably refrain from posting anything MMO related in these forums, there is such MMO hate here. That being said the game looks better than I thought it did. A few of the aspects interested me. Will be keeping my eye on this. IxX3xil3d0n3XxII post for the people interested in gaming, not the haters ;)

It's just Tamriel for now, although they could add some of the other continents with expansions.
I think I am finished with theme-park MMORPGs. They simply don't interest me anymore - not sure if they ever did, honestly.

To be honest, I have not played an mmo before WoW.. Could you please give an example of a non-theme park mmorpg?
games like EVE Online and Ultima Online(greatest mmo of all time!!!)
