read the fine prints, it's written transactional email, not spam, and there is no opt-out option. They are using a fake transactional email to spam. This is false advertising.I don't see how that is false advertising. They never said you bought the game. And obviously you have signed up for something connected to EA or DICE at one point in time or else you would not have received that.

That's not false advertising...transactional can mean a lot of things not just sales.

3. Communication involving two or more people that affects all those involved; personal interaction
Geeze...people are so overreactional these days lol.
If this was legal, then every company which I bought something would use this way of advertising and everyones mailbox would be unusable. It's not some fake viagra company, it's EA, they have to follow the rules. Plus, I've never bought anything on Origin. That's not false advertising...transactional can mean a lot of things not just sales.

Have you ever installed Origin? Did you ever use EA's old download service from before? Have you ever used that e-mail when signing into any EA-published game? That would be a way they'd have your address.
Edit: Funny how I thought a topic about "False Advertising used in promoting BF3" would imply that people might think the "Is It Real?" latest TV commercial was all in-game footage. Seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtMaJf45mQ8
TC - just delete the e-mail message/block the sender if you don't want it and move on, it's nothing to do with false advertising just because you got an ad in your inbox.

Post the full text from the specific law...and they are not using transaction as in a financial transaction...they are using it as in a communication. That was pretty clear no idea why you are still going on about it.
How about this...why don't you contact a laywer and see what he says.
I get e-mails regarding "selling your WoW account' e-mails from 'blizzard' all the time yet I've never had a WoW account or even tried it before. What I do is just delete them and move on, as others have mentioned and I also mentioned in my last post.I get stuff like this from newegg and blizzard all the time.

/clap Exactly my point, first guy who read my message. EA now stands in the same league as male enlargement cream and stupid attemps to steal wow accounts.I'm sure it's legal alright, but it's a pathetic attempt to get some extra $$$. And the fact that it's the biggest computer game company in the world makes it even more pathetic. And that should be said.

I got this email too. I don't use Origin, but I did have to signup with EA to download the free Mass Effect 2 DLC. Well I signed up on the Bioware site, but they have a unified login now. I'm sure the ToS I had to accept when creating the account allowed for emails like this.
