I'm trying to stick to a budget here, and I'm trying to decide whether to get a Q6600 and 4830 setup, or something like a e7400 and a 4870? If you have any suggestions on how to balance it out a bit I'm all ears. Thanks

Btw if you post links to shoppiing websites-I'm in UK.

Go with the Q6600 and average card because you'll end up upgrading the card more than the CPU and graphics cards fall quicker in price.

I'd get the q6600 and weaker gpu, cause you upgrade graphics cards faster than cpus. And 4 cores is really poweful, oc it to 3.8 ghz and you will be cruising along nicely.

I was referring to the post above when they both have 250gts. A slower cpu and faster gpu is always better for gaming as long as the cpu isn't terrible.
