Yes, but I really don't care about the game, so even though I have Vista I don't care.

something tells me yes. It will be a much stronger reason for me to get Vista than Halo 2.

even if it was, there's no real reason to increase the amount people switching to Vista now anyway.

If it does, Microsoft would have to be paying them a considerable amount due to lost profit.. A very small amount of the pc gamer base even uses Vista, so they would be losing out on possible profit.

Shouldn't the question be - will Alan Wake ever be released?

It will probably be coming to PC and consoles just to try and make some money. Anything that's been in development this long is bound to have spent a fortune, and tieing it down with exclusivity will only hurt it more

I thought it was a DX10 only game, which means Vista. But on the other hand, it is getting close enough time to release Windows 7 (late next year, early the following?) that it could just as easily have the release date pushed back to release around the same time, just as I smell the Halo 3 release (if it happens) around the Windows 7 release.

What is here to think anymore ?

Is Alan Wake exclusive to Windows Vista? If so why?

Petri Järvilehto had this to say on the official Alan Wake forums (18/05/06):

"I'll confirm that Alan Wake is Vista and 360 exclusive." I know some people have reacted strongly to that, but for us this was one of the key decisions that will allow us to create the best possible game.

Official Alan Wake FAQ

Horrible, i know...

If they're trying to create the best possible game then why is it on 360 when a good pc with xp is capable of far more than the 360? Needs to come up with better lies.

Does Alan Wake even have any effects that really need dx10?

Most if not all games with so called dx10 effects have nothing that couldnt be done in dx9.

I've heard that it's not going to be coming out this year anyways.

We don't even know how the game will play out, exactly. Until more details are released, I suggest that none of you waste their energy on anticipating this game.

Does the game support DirectX 10?#

Remedy have not announced anything on this subject.

I would lol if it doesn't use any directx 10 features. ( If it actually has any that dx9 doesn't)

It's from the makers of Max Payne, enough for me to hype it. Knowing their track record, and besides that Max Payne 2 ran on the worst of the worst computers (mine :P) tells me it won't be a technical letdown neither.

Something must have gone horribly wrong with development for it to take this long. I've been hearing about this game ever since Max Payne 2, you do the math. I remember seeing impressive tech demos of it a couple years ago. I doubt if they are as impressive by today's standards. The problems they are encountering much be either technical or creative. It's reminding me of STALKER. When it ever gets released, it may be decent, but show obvious shortcomings trying to cover up the flaws.

I think it will, but it won't be Dx10, so it's basically just another Halo 2 incident. Although less "bad" because vista has been out for a long time now. I have vista, but I don't like that they won't make a dx9 game work on a dx9 OS.
