i like them mainly becuase i hate multiplayer. and i like it when they try and tell a story and don't mind liner campaign as long it isn't two hard becuase C&C i find is just too hard for me i can do dawn of war and total war.
i like world conquest campaigns like in dawn of war or rise of nations where u have to take (and hold) territories over those storyline driven campaigns like in c&c3
rise of nations is the best single player rts game yet...it has so much to do from conquer the new world to conquering the world....jack up the AI to the hardest difficulty setting and conquering the world is very very satisfying
The campaigns are usually pretty bad, but I like to finnish them granted it gets pretty hard at times. They sometimes get soo cheasy I'm almost self-conciance playing them, but I guess I like that cheeseness.
Havn't gotton far, but WiC has a pretty good story, CoH had a very well put together story as well(I too lost intrest on the very last level!!)
I always play the single player campaigns first before trying online.. although i feel that a lot of them lack a good campaign to what they used to. C&C Red Alert, Warcraft 2, Starcract, Age of Mythology.. they all had great campaigns. A lot of todays RTS games rely on multiplayer so they don't have to put effort into a single player campaign.. although that can be said for other genres too.
warcraft 3 has a great story line, I actualy look to single player alot becasue It gets me atleast farily familiar with the races.Drazule
I do like single player campaigns and i really did... i just wondered why most gamer here in Manila, Philippines really put themselves hard on multiplayer matches with its fun mode DOTA, they just didn't know the core story of W3.
