Do Western Digital oem hard drives have warranties?

So I was planning on buying this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136320 and it says it includes a 5 year manufactures warranrty, but then I read this http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/250877-32-drives-warranties Would I not get a warranty then?

Getting OEM drives is always pretty risky. Sometimes the packaging is crappy, and of course you have to make sure you have your own cables because it doesn't come with any. I hope I have enough SATA cables and such for mine. I should.TheUberKnight

WD HDD's all have warranties, Blacks have 5 yrs and the rest I believe have 3. Seagate also offers warranties but around the 3 yr range.

I would watch out. A quick search revealed quite a few failure complaints for these drives, with some people quoting figures of 25%.

I had a HDD fail on me after only a 3 or 4 months so I'm pretty cautious about these things now. The offending company took a long time to actually admit to the public that there was a problem despite the huge number of sub 6 month failures on the same model. Luckily, once the sompany accepted fault, shipping, backup and repair was all handled free of charge and very speedily.

Be sure to do a lot of reading up on failure rates if you see a particularly tasty offer, as sometimes the solution is no more than a 5 minute firmware upgrade, meaning you come out with a bargain.
