Having just finished the swamp levels and the spiderbugs levels before, I have to say this game is friggin terrifying. I don't remember being this scared since Amnesia.

I think it's the sound effects; the rustling of the grass, the walk of the spiders, they all put you in the right mood. When that big green shrimp showed up in that plane I really jumped. It reminded me of Dead Space, when a similar event happened and I didn't even flinch.

Also, I haven't finished the game yet so no spoilers, please. Be as vague as possible.

MLL had it's moments (like 2) but it really didn't make me jump as much as 2033 did.

I wouldn't say I found it scary as much as I found it tense. Even then, it was only the parts with the nosalis.

It's not scary at all. But the spiders...I wouldn't call them scary, but kinda creepy.

there are a few good spots, I think it sets the atmosphere well. Having lots of ammo and mutants, that take many swipes to kill you, make it less scary. I would highly recommend playing on harder difficulties

Like others have said, it has its moments. It could have been a LOT scarier if they spent more time on certain sections and I think they should have but overall it wasn't as scary as 2033. 2033 had quite a few more scares in it especially the Librarians

I think for me the creepiest level was the tunnels underneath the church, simply because the whole level is dark, and the nosalis are pretty tough. There are other sections of the game that were creepy, but not really terrifying. Since you're still at the church, the best jaw-dropping moments/levels have yet to come.

Metro Last Light scary? Nope. It's quite fun but not scary. Doom 3 made me more jumpy.

I think suspenseful and tense would be better adjectives to describe MLL. At

There was one specific moment that made me jump, but other than that I didn't find it scary. It was quite atmospheric though.

For the sake of comparison, did you guys think the lab levels in Shadow of Chernobyl were scary?

It can get pretty creepy and eerie at times but the fact that most of the threats in the game aren't as dangerous as Metro 2033's ones makes Last Light less frightening than its predecessor. The exceptions are mainly the boss fights (megashrimp, giant nosalis and the bear) but those don't really frighten me - big loud angry things aren't as terrifying as more subtle dangers.

Ranger mode made the game for me; game was so intense during those spider and nosalis parts.

Only 1 maybe 2 times it made me jump, over than that not scary at all, Metro 2033 was more scary.

I played in normal mode and I didn't find it so scary.. The sound effect and the atmosphere were perfect. I found it tense.
