I'm looking to replace my ATI x1900xt with an equivalent DX10 card that is one slot. Which current generation cards from both ATI and Nvidia fit these criteria? Thanks!
The X1900XT has 384 million transistors. Cards around this same amount of transistors have similiar performance.
There are only models that have more or less than this.
Less than:
ATI Radeon 4350 and Radeon 4550 each have 242 million.
Nvidia GeForce 9400GT and 9500GT each have 314 million.
Greater than:
ATI Radeon 4650, which has 512 million.
Nvidia GeForce 9600GT which has 505 million transistors.
I think those would be the most acceptable up to date choices that perform closest to the X1900XT or out do it by quite a bit, All of these are in the sub $100 price range.

How much are you willing to pay? That would help alot. Because if your asking for a current gen card that gives you amazing FPS in the latest games like the ATI x1900xt did for its time, I would go for ATI's new 4890, if thats too high price wise then go for a 4870.

He is right, depending on how much you are willing to pay and the rest of your components, you may be able to get quite the upgrade for less than you expected.
