I think Crytek wants to finally make a competent multiplayer game -- one they will support. Plus, seeing how it's PC only, there's a little hope lingering there, despite the slap in the face Crysis 2 was.
I used to think that f2p games werse basicaly low quality games with dumb gameplay as Farmville. But some recent free to play games as League Of Legends, HoN and TF2 proves that some few f2p titles can be for free and be based on micro dlcs and still have a good gameplay mechanics and earn success.
I'll try it; being free in the worst case scenario either one don't like it (and due it cost you nothing, isn't a problem at all) or one likes it (and is your choice to invest in if you care).
Based on the same engine as Crysis 2 though. So far the engine has been the problem for the PC version and they will just be swapping stuff around and call it Warface... Crysis 2 was one hell of a slap in the face, and for that reason I don't have faith in Crytek anymore. So heres a scenario, Warface has a rough start as did Crysis 2 on PC, complaints flood the forums and people threaten to quit and eventually do... Will Crytek end up doing the same as they did with Crysis 2, which was abandon their game? I sound negative about the subject but I just cannot digest the horrible experience crysis 2 was due to the lack of care from crytek...I think Crytek wants to finally make a competent multiplayer game -- one they will support. Crysis 2 didn't even take advantage of it.I think Crytek wants to finally make a competent multiplayer game -- one they will support. Not totally accurate. "This new Crytek IP is developed by Crytek Kiev (Ukraine) and co-produced by Crytek Seoul and Crytek Frankfurt." http://crytek.com/games/warface/overviewIt could end up being decent, but i don't have a lot of confidence on it. It is being made by a really small group of Korean developers, not Crytek itself. Let'ssee how they handle it. It's free, so i'll probably play it.

Or CS:GO with its out dated graphics that are tolerable due to the fact its Counter-Strike... I built my rig for Crysis 2, but I really overestimated the requirements. With its DX11, Hi-Res texture pack, and everything maxed out I run the game with ease. However, Warface will run on cryengine 3, so I doubt people will go ahead and upgrade their rigs to maximize graphics, so really lower end pc's will be going for it's gameplay... But can it compete with CS` scrim style competitive play?It could end up being decent, but i don't have a lot of confidence on it.
