Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about upgrading from 4 gb ram to like 6 or 8. Also the ram i have is only 1066 when my MOBO supports 1333. Would it help the FPS much if i added two more sticks of 2 gb but instead of 1066 make them 1333 mhz?

AMD Phenom II X4 955 AM3 3.2 GHz

Biostar TA790GX AM3

Seagate barracuda 500 gb 32 mb cache

4 GB 1066 MHz Kingston

Nvidia GTX 260 896 MB

there will be no difference (or very little) if u change anything.

Thats just the way crysis runs. IF u want to go higher u need a higher GPU, period.

Thats sad because i have the latest AMD CPU and figured the 260 GTX would handle it great. I guess im stuck playing at 30 FPS console style till i get either Crossfire 4890s or a better Nvidia card.

Maybe he has crossfire only mobo? I don't think theres a mobo that supports both sli and crossfire.

Crossfire is ATI and SLI is Nvidia, so basically you can't crossfire GTX 260's. He may be able to crossfire 4870's, but that would certainly be more expensive then buying a single GTX 260. And BTW, my Motherboard supports SLI and Crossfire :P .

64 bit vista home premium, im now running 1080p on a 26 inch and my FPS have dropped to 22 fps. I Really want to up it to around 35+ but don't know if thats possible on Crysis. I run Wars fine though.

its possible to get 35+ at your res with crossfire 4890 most of the time but there are some spots in crysis that drop the frames to around the 25FPS mark. So I don't think getting two new cards and discarding your GTX260 would be worth it, unless you got money to burn. But every other game I completely max out easily, so in that sense its pretty good. If i was you at this point I would wait for the next round, they are said to be out this calendar year, soon. If you are definetly getting new card then crossfire 4890 is a good setup. One thing though when I play Wars online and there are alot of people playing my frames drops by 10 but I can't figure why, I am guessing its my internet. Is this just online game lag people talk about?

I agree with this guy above me. Im on 2 4890's in crossfire i bought yesterday. I run Crysis on 1920x1200 enthusiast with 4xAA and get 35 FPS average. so i dont think its worth it if your getting 30 FPS.

Yeah,SLI. But I believe that a crossfire\SLI ready mobo only means that it has 2 PCI-E 16x slots

Uhh I dont mean to offend you but do you know anything about CPU's? He has a Phenom X4. Thats like the AMD equivalent to the Intel i7's.

Not quite, more like a core 2 quad, but either way, thats a GREAT cpu, have you tried overclocking? Oh and btw, why wouldnt you want to go ATI? Same company as your cpu theres nothing wrong with it...

Yeah I meant in the sense that the i7 is one of Intels best CPU's as the Phenom X4 is one of AMDs best CPU's.

My GTX 260 is already OC'd to around a 275 so yeah it's OC'd to the person who asked, and i pretty much max out ANY game out cept Crysis runs so slow compared to everything else. I haven't OC'd my prcoessor because im on stock cooling for it but i was wondering if anybody ever tried AMD Overdriveauto-clock on stock cooling?

don't bother overclocking the cpu. Its your GPU that is holding it back in crysis. Crysis is by far the hardest on GPUs. I am getting over 80 FPS average in Stalker and Far cry2 1680x1050 maxed and only 35+ average in crysis maxed 4AA,thats a big difference in 3 games that all have demanding graphics. But crysis is in a league of its own when trying to max FPS. Crysis does run slow compared to everythin else, thats the way it is.

Why do you want to go higher than 30fps? Anything higher than 22.2fps and you won't notice it.

Oh, and for the record - X58 motherboards and Skulltrail support both CrossFireX and SLI. That being said, just get an HD4870X2. I have one and it's lovely.

I certainly don't want to be playing CS:S with 22.2 fps. I mean 20's is fine for most RTS and RPG but for FPS not so much.

Crysis is definately one of those game!!!!

I have a corei7920 overclocked to 3GHz, 4870X2, 12GB 1600MHz RAM and I play at 1900x1080 on high with 4xAA.

Because any higher sends my GPU nuts and the fan is to loud for me.

Great game though and loving it.

I completely face palmed. And a CPU won't do him much good. Try overclocking your GPU, or buying a better one. Make sure it's not too heated.

overclocking won't do much for crysis. the only real way to get improvement would be to upgrade to a whole new card.

the ram wont help you... u have to go sli,do tweaks and overclock
