Just got myself an 8800GT. Call of Duty 4 runs amazingly even at highest possible settings (1280x1024 and 4xAA).

However, with Crysis i get around 19-25FPS with everything on high (1024x768 NO AA). Just wondering if this is normal performance.

I'd say it probably is, even though I dont know for certain. Crysis is a system killer.

I'd say it depends on your CPU somewhat. I have an 8800gt (512mb), and with the latest Crysis patch I'm actually playing with shaders and post processing set to very high (1400x900) at absolutely respectable framerates (for Crysis anyway. Probably averaging 25fps total, but that's smooth enough for me when something looks this good)

run the benchmarks in the crysis game folder and see how u go. there not a 100% perofrmance indicator but they will push ure system.

see how it rates to other ppl who have similar setups after running them.

You should be getting much better performance at those settings. Like 35-40fps.

What brand? What clock speed? What are your other specs?

I have the Evga 8800GT SC and I get between 20-60 fps and average at least 30 fps. I also have a C2D E6750, and 2GB of ram.

I have better than that and I have a 8600Gt 256 MB but I do have the config file. Go find crysis graphics config, This will improve graphics performance. I'm also guessing you have low proformance because of you CPU

That's very odd...odd indeed. You have a Q6600 yet you get such a low FPS? Very strange. I get around 25-35 FPS in Crysis, have you updated the game?

Hmm much too low. My 8800GT is overclocked right now, but I get 45+ average FPS at high settings in 1280x960. You should run 3dmark06 and tell us what your SM2 and SM3 scores are.

Also, are you judging those FPS by FRAPS or what? Try running the GPU benchmark at those settings. If you get 19-25 FPS in that then something is wrong, especially for such a low resolution.

Sounds about right.

System Setup:
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core 2.2GHz HT3 3600MHz 512KBx4 L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache AM2+
G.SKILL 2GB kit (1GB x 2) DDR2-800 (PC-6400) CL4-4-3-5
250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ 16MB Cache in RAID 0 (X2)
ATI Radeon HD3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 (crossfire)
Windows XP and Vista (I have one os on each HDD and multi-boot which one I need)
Custom Modded CPU Water Cooling

My cpu is overclocked but my cards aren't and I have flashed fan drivers for my 3870s cause the ATI ones suck which bring my cards temp down from the 90C to 65C (stable at that temp as well).

Call of Duty 4, 1600x1200, Maximum Quality: 70fps minimum

Crysis, 1600x1200, High Quality: 35fps max, 8-20fps minimum (The 8fps is later in the game when tons of stuff is happening on screen, overall its only the driver faults cause they aren't stable enough, the cards are damn good but they aren't tweaked properly for Crysis and World in Conflict which tend to be focussed towards Nvidia cards anyway)

Unreal Tournament, 1600x1200, 4xAA, 8xAF, High Quality: 80fps max, 60fps minimum

Unfortunately I laughed at gamespots review of the new ATI cards cause they used beta drivers instead of proper ones for the test and the performance difference is very noticable whilst playing, but thats gamespot they suck on many fronts now.

The drivers im using is v169.21... could this be the problem?

EDIT: I just ran 3D Mark 06 (free edition) and got a score of 9977.

My rig was ranked 14th out of 17 similar systems. Doesn't seem like a very good score to me.

Well where do you get this performance?Run the GPU benchmark in those settings.

I get 50fps in those settings in DX9 and 45 in DX10.You should get something like 55-60 in DX9 in the GPU benchmark.

At that res with no filtering only DX10 very high could possibly justify that performance.

I heard that fraps can affect your performance. And you WILL from time to time dip below 30's or even sometimes 20's depending on your settings.

Just run the GPU benchmark without running fraps and see what your average is.

Wipe out fraps thats why your getting low frames mate, whilst playing or doing benchmarks it hits your performance a lot.

For crysis you can bring up the console menu and debug menu to be displayed in the top right corner that shows the frames.

Way too low!

Anyone who says "It's prob normal" hasn't played Crysis yet.

Are you running the latest drivers? Also, have you applied the v1.1 patch?

My 320mb eVGA 8800GTS KO runs it at 30ish frames @ 16x10 in the demo. Thats everything on high and no AA. Keep in mind my 8800GTS is factory overclocked from 500/1500 to 590/1840.

Thats the demo with no hotfix.

Intel Q6600 2.40

3gb ddr2 ram

GeForce 8800gt 512

500gb hd

windows vista home premium

I get average of 25 fps on highest settings .......... I think Crysis rocks, but i hate the framerate at times :(

You feel kinda sad when you can run everything else alot better :S

I keep telling myself that crytek will release some psyco hotfix that will make it run amazing ...... well you can dream right ?? :P

Crysis is just a little ahead of its time, to get great performance on Crysis running on high resolution and very high graphics, it can take up to two 8800GTX ultras, which can set you back quite a bit.

I would say dump these tweaks, and either overclock that CPU from 2.4GHz he has it at or otherwise invest in nothing less than a 6750. I would recommend an E8400.

Btw... ZimPanX. Your CPU is massively bottlenecking even that slower G80 8800GTS 320MB model. I had the same card with a Pentium D (two Pentium 4 chips on the same die) @ 3.4GHz. Unreal Tournament 3 could not run at a decent frame rate on high settings. I upgraded to new board and E8400. The difference was phenomenal. Words cannot describe it.

Btw...

My 8800 GTS 512 gets 20-40 FPS on VERY HIGH 1680x1050 no AA.

I overclocked it though.

I know it's a bottleneck, but I got it real cheap and had a X800GT before and I use different tweaks for my system

I've got the 8800gt 512mb evga version myself. I've also got the q6600 core2quad and 2gb of ddr3 1066mhzRAM. Runnign COD4 @ 75fps with everything super high to include full AA. Crysis set w/ 8xAA and getting 15-20FPS and w/oAA getting way over 40FPS. That card kicks total ass, so I'm thinking it may be the rest of your hardware thats dropping your frames. Thank you Quadcore :)

I have a q6600 at 2.4ghz and a 3870 at stock speeds and with all on high and 1280x768 I get about 35 - 40fps average. And the 8800gt is better than the 3870 so something is definitely wrong.are you recording with fraps, or is it just open? what antivirus do you have?

I have a XFX 8800GT the ones with stock core speeds of 600Mhz.
Your getting realy poor FPS, first let me give my specs

PSU 550Watt Corsair
CPU AMD Athlon X2 5400+ Black Edition stock @2.8Ghz now @3.1Ghz
Ram 4GB Buffelo Firestixs DDR2 800
Mobo MSI K9N-SLI V2

Its cased to a Tacens Aluminum Exreme
My Mobo is Sli but i use only one Videocard and I get around 25-35 FPS.
Crysis is a system killer but you should be able to get atleast 20 FPS Average.

Zenkuso

i have pretty much the exact same setup except for the 3870. what did you get your 9500 oc'd to? i just want a ballpark figure to go on. and to stay on topic i have a 9800gt and i had no problems playing crysis but it might be that way since i only have xp and driectx 9
