Sorry if old, but cryostasis is 10 euro's on gamersgate.

[QUOTE="Baranga"]It has multi-core support and actually doesn't need a strong CPU for anything.

Then why it perfoms better in a friend's single core3.6ghz than my quadcore 3.2?
According to the article it might be because your friend could have a more powerful graphics card that pulls most of the weight so to speak.

He does not and then whats the point of setting it to low if it still lags?[QUOTE="Treflis"][QUOTE="dakan45"]

Just mine? Ah on then, its just me...not that the game is super terribly optimized.[QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="Treflis"]

This is PC-land and that's an Eastern European game. Localising the precise reason for performance hits is impossible:P
You wouldn't believe that such a static game, with almost no AI and whose eye-candy is processed entirely by the GPU demands a powerful CPU, wouldn't you? There's no logic in this. It only requires a Pentium 4, and a low-end dual-core is recommended.
Fact is, the engine natively supports multithreading and there's a command left in the .cfg from its early days, when they had to force it to run in a single-threaded mode.
Or maybe your friend never patched his game, so he doesn't have all the PhysX effects. The patch added tons of new effects that destroy any modern GPU. I think the versions released in May have the updates built-in anyway.
This game is good?
SemperFi10
Godly. The story is almost on par with Planescape's, and twice as intriguing.
[QUOTE="Baranga"]Then why it perfoms better in a friend's single core3.6ghz than my quadcore 3.2?Ati vs Nvidia? I might be wrong but I recall it used some of that nvidia physics crap and ran poorly on ati.It has multi-core support and actually doesn't need a strong CPU for anything.

I played it on a 2.4ghz Q6600, 2Gb RAM and 512MB 9800GT, using DX10 and had about 20-25. That was before any patch, I picked up the Russian version back in January. That's quite a nasty problem you've got there...
Also, an 8 years old OS won't take advantage of newer hardware.

You telling me that while xp mainly have better perfomance in games than vista.....a lowbudget russian developer knew how to make its game so it can take advantage by new hardware and vista:shock:Good deal. I have already bought the game at gamersgate. One of the most underappreciated games this year imo.G-LordAgree. One of the best Fps this year ( to me the best ). The atmosphere, the graphics , the story ( unlike every other FPS this has a great story its based on a novel ) and the sounds are all amazing. The only downside imo is the gunplay but then again gunplay isnt that important at this game ( by that i mean is not a gun fest game ) Just for the atmosphere i highly suggest it
