So i have a friend selling his XFX 5870 for $170. Should I go for it and crossfire it with my 5870?

$170? Seems a little high for a used card... especially from a friend. Let's say that if you can get it for $150 or less then it would be a good upgrade.
haha yeah i thought 170 was high. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see if can lower it a bit. Do you think it's going to be a good performance boost as oposed to buying a new card?
It would give a great performance boost. But, like Tez said, $170 is high for a used 5870.haha yeah i thought 170 was high. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see if can lower it a bit. Do you think it's going to be a good performance boost as oposed to buying a new card?

5870s, 5850s, and 5830s are selling for alot because of bitcoins. I see 5850s selling for over 200 bucksAutoPilotOn
...bitcoins? So go for it?

And who would pay $200 for a 5850, when you can get a 460 for like $50 less. o.O because the 58xx series are the best for bitcoin mining. People buy them in bulks just for farms of machines to mine. Look up bitcoins. Nvidia cards suck at mining even the most high end does not compare. Thats the reason for the high cost of 58xx cards.

Ignore the bitcoin guy. What he says is true but that doesn't mean that you should therefore gladly spend $170 on it.
So you think if he goes down to 150 i'm good?

Yeah, that sounds reasonable to me. If he definitely won't drop the price you could still justify buying it though. Adding a second HD 5870 would definitely increase your performance significantly...
