Comes out today in Australia.

Just wondering if anyone here is playing it?

I had bad experiences with Ghosts both with lack of online players and the initial optimization of the engine.

Just getting opinions on these two factors for anyone that bought Advanced Warfare.

Thanks

I got it, but can't play it until we build our new rigs. Which we are slowly gathering parts in sales.

I haven't really played a COD since CODMW1 (I spent countless hours in it) and MW2 was ok, I didn't enjoy the optimization issues on Black ops. MW3 was more like an extended trial for me, I didn't really get into it. I have missed all the other COD games like WAW, BO2 (and honestly most of BO1), and Ghosts.

I figured I would give this one a go since its been a few years for me.

Probably... although since you are in Ausieland it wouldn't really be helpful. I am still slightly on the fence but I am leaning towards going over to The Store That Shall Not Be Named later tonight and putting 5 bucks down for the pre-order junk. I would buy it directly from Steam, but at 42Gb that is like 36 hours for me (I am already f***ing sick of this uncompressed audio laziness due to crappy console CPUs), I wouldn't even be able to play until Tuesday at which point the pre-order bonus is worthless.

The only other COD I have played is MW2, but this one looks really fun so I am willing to give it a shot. What I am hearing from various sources is that is is good, with fun mechanics, and that the PC version is well optimized. So nice job to Sledgehammer IMO.

I have it preordered, it comes out here in a few hours. I think it a lot a lot better than Ghosts. It looks like a step in the right direction for sure.

Yeah, I'm going back to buying physical copies because at 30GB+ games my internet runs out in no time. I kinda like having boxes anyway.

They also say its more vertical (I dunno what that means).

GMG had it for $50 US so I pulled the trigger. I think it is a tonight only deal, at that price I feel like it is worth taking the risk. I have been hearing good things on the Steam boards from people who are already playing it. I wish I had bought a physical copy but it would have cost me $66 with tax, that and when I just went over to GameStop the weaseldick guarding the door told me I had to wait in line to just go into the store even though they aren't closing for another 45 minutes. So f*** 'em, I'll save my money and play it Tuesday when I have the whole day off.

Cool.

I'm picking it up today at lunch ($69 at JBHiFi), but I normally finish the campaign first before going online.

So probably be playing MP around Sunday.

If anything my brudda, I just want it for the campaign which I heard is around 8 hours long. I don't like playing MP so perhaps this warrants a rent.

I am actually thinking about getting the game although I lost interest in the series after MW2 / WAW..

However if I do get the game it will probably be on PS4 since for PC when it comes to shooters I am fine with Arma3, BF4, Titanfall, TF2 & CS:GO

(Also 6 DVDs for the game !!!!!)

CoD has been getting worse and worse after MW2. Ghosts was a failure.. I'll wait on reviews. Even better if I hear about it from players. So let me know what you guys think about it.

REPORTING BACK:

Played about 2 hours of the SP Campaign. Engine works fine on my specs.

They really have added quite a bunch of new stuff. The exoskeleton will change how gameplay works on COD. Probably finish the campaign this week and start MP on the weekend.

I was too.

Only reason I bought it is because I enjoy the SP campaigns and co-op of COD games, and the gameplay for MP this time around is very similar to Titanfall which I had fun playing (till they changed the servers and can't get a game anymore)

I got no idea lol, I'm not good at twitch shooters.

They just keep saying its a lot more vertical orientated, I'm assuming the strategy and layouts of the map is, but I don't have the game so I'm not certain exactly what they mean, but just my 2 cents.

"Verticality" means is that now you can double jump with the jetpack, hover in mid air, mid air dodge, ground dodge etc.... so instead of just aiming around corners on a flat level... you now have to look around 360 degrees.

I can't get into these games. I played the 2nd one a lot and modern warfare 1 a bit because of modding. But I doubt modding will ever come back since they can gouge people with dlc

I've only played 1-2 hours of the campaign, so it's early to judge. So far it's the same as the other COD games, like riding a Michael Bay action flick.

The whole verticality of it all changes the gameplay though, can't wait to see how it affects MP.

EDIT: played another 2 hours. Yep, it's great fun like all the other COD campaigns.

NOTE: for anyone who has lip syncing audio issues in cutscenes, set the monitor aspect ratio inside the game manually, not on auto-detect.

Does it have dedicated servers and a server browser?

If not then no. Then again, I would never buy the game at full price if it had that and CoD on PC doesn't even have much of a community to speak of anymore.

Making a game better then any CoD released after 08' isn't much of an accomplishment.

The single player fov is 65 and is not changeable. Game looks fairly dated and doesn't run well for how it looks.

The loading times are extremely long and turning on shadow cache makes the game look worse than the original COD graphically, except it runs a lot worse. (And no dev console, or leaning, or good gameplay)

Pretty much wrong on all accounts.

Game looks fine. It's no Crysis 3 or Metro but some areas are very well done (others are just normal).

Runs fine for me.

Loading times are longer than older CODs but nowhere close to extremely long (30 seconds tops after the cutscene) and that's from a normal HDD, not an SSD. Maybe it's time for an upgrade?

Weird someone that loves games like Quake complaining about graphics so much...

Yes, 30 seconds after the cutscene. That is an extremely long time. There's an option to allow loading during the cutscenes but even then it takes around 1-2 minutes for everything to be loaded. Funny that the option is disabled by default.

Graphics are subjective and depend on the type of game. Quake games have extremely high visibility and the textures can be shaded flat which looks alright. Not really related, but I don't really care if the game is dated or the hardware it's on is dated. Mario Kart 8, super smash 4, mg2, are some of the best looking games i've seen and aren't exactly hardware taxing.

Also I have barely played the game, those are just first impressions. I don't think I'll play it though if the fov is stuck to 65.

EDIT: Total biscuit made a video, similar complaints to what I have.

Just finished the SP campaign. It was good fun with some cool moments. Nothing out of the norm of a COD game, but it worked good all the way through (engine) and the story was ok.

It's always weird in COD games when I agree with the bad guy.....lol....

Played a few rounds of Deathmatch online, it was fun and quite different from other CODs with the whole verticality thing. Believe it or not though, it's slower paced than Blops2... you actually have to pause, reload, take cover in AW.

@JigglyWiggly_ btw, you CAN change the FOV in options.

I've been outspoken against CoD rehashing the same thing every year, but I gotta admit after looking at some gameplay, this one looks pretty good. The movement reminds me of an arena shooter, which is awesome IMO.

Actually, now that I have played a few hours of MP, the gameplay is different from other CODs.

It's a blend of Black Ops 2 and Titanfall.

Great news is that the engine is well optimized (no issues here), and that there are heaps of PC players online.

To be honest I've never really had any major issues with P2P, and I live in Australia where ping is always an issue.

Only times it is laggy if I play at non-peak hours (like mornings where everyone is going to work), it will put me with american hosts. But that's the same case with BF4, the local servers are empty in the mornings.

Probably... although since you are in Ausieland it wouldn't really be helpful.

SuperNerd detected.

Anyone know what the state of the game currently is? Are hackers a huge issue yet? Is lag and performance as bad as Im hearing right now?
