I wouldnt get anything seeing your current specs. I would just save money till true quad cores come, ddr3 ram becomes cheaper ect.

Do NOT get the TR version of the board (the evga 680i), it does not support quad cores properly.

lol, my mom got me a core 2 duo :P Except it was $400, what you have is overkill, but if you have rich parents go for it.

SLI not needed... but you didn't give that option.

And if i was doing a dual card setup it would be crossfire.

I got a crossfire mobo, but it's not good at crossfire since it uses 16x and 4x... p35 chipset. So i'm the loser here LOL

Theoretically speaking, a water-cooled card might help cut down on EMI and get better clarity out of your sound card. Not that I'm seriously advocating it or anything, but I would love to see it happen.

Please consider what I said, the TR version of that motherboard does NOT support quad core overclocking, and will NOT support quad core penryns. Please look around, I have that exact motherboard- Dont make the same mistake that I did

Your PC is still pretty good. If you are going for the biggest performance increase for ~500 then I would just get the new 8800GTS and hold on to your processor and ram a little while longer. I would do that then next christmas upgrade to a Penyron, X48, and DDR3. Hopefully prices have dropped enough by then.

if you really wana upgrade then get a 8800gt or 2 of them, the rest of your rig is still fine for another year or untill quad cores become used.

This is a better plan, wait for the new 8800GTS cards, then get one (or two) of those.

get a corsair XMS 2Gb and the 680i and yur q6600

and those talking about 45nm procs need to know that by the time he stresses that Q6600 everything else he has will be out dated
