i'm looking for a top notched class based online fps to which i can commit my time in a lasting fashion. for me, it boils down to either Enemy Territory: Quake Wars or Battlefield 2. i have had demo experience with both titles, and i like ETQW more than BF2; but i'm willing to keep an open mind. so let's hear what the fans of BF2 have to say --

1. the most important question of all, of coz, is whether the game is still popular. i understand the series is 4 years old, so the community couldn't be that big. but just how big it is? especially in the more casual, pub servers.

2. i don't really like the idea of joining a gaming clan, and i have never done so. but i've heard that playing with clan, and real time voice chat no less, is a must in order to fully enjoy the game. is it true?

3. project reality. yes, i know it's big among the fans. is this what you guys are mainly playing nowadays? can i boot the mod seperately from the core content? wouldn't want to limit myself to just the mod if i'm gonna play this game.

4. the booster packs. are they a must?

5. other recommendations. allrite, you can name me anything you want as long as it's a class based fps. for example, is BF2142 a better choice? please note that i already own TF2 and dislike it. i also played the old ET to death back in days.

6. similarly, you guys can tell me anything you want about ETQW.

thanks for your time, guys. :)

I have both games, both still have quite a big community. Theyre both really fun but I like the class based objectives in ET:QW. You really cant go wrong with either though.

Since it's there, TF2 wins in my book. It's easier to get into and far more streamlined. Plus, the communities are great and there are many to choose from.

Enemy Territory

I thought it was more fun than BF2.

Maybe not more fun than TF2, but in TF2 there is such a low skill ceiling that I don't think you'll be very well rewarded for putting a lot of time into it.

Because maybe if you take a look around... there's usually at least 5 threads of "this game vs that game" in the first 3 pages of the forum. Just get tired of replying to them all.
