So on my primary PC that I bought new around a year ago runs this ASUS 144hz monitor completely fine, but recently I bought a used 2nd PC for work purposes and tried to plug in the same monitor with the same Display Port I usually use on primary PC but it only gives me up to maximum 60hz option https://19216801.onl/.

I updated my graphics card drivers thinking this would fix it but still no option. Any ideas?

My primary PC specs are

GPU - NVIDIA RTX 3070

CPU - Intel Core i7 11700K

Motherboard - Gigabyte Z590 UD AC

RAM - Gskill 32GB TridentZ Neo 3600

but this 2nd PC specs are

GPU - 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

CPU - Intel Core i5 7600K @ 3.80GHz

Motherboard - ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. STRIX B250H GAMING

Is it a problem with the PC being too old to run 144hz? I purchased this thinking it would run it fine.

Appreciate any advice, thanks!

@metanbeky:

1. Make sure that the monitor is not manually set to 60hz in its built in OSD menu.

2. Check if there is a driver for your monitor from Asus that you can install.

3. Try using DDU to do a full uninstall of all GPU drivers before installing new Nvidia drivers.

Make sure you connected the monitor to the GPU DP or HDMI port and no to the MOBO.

Make sure as been said by @BassMan the monitor isn't configured as 60Hz from it's own settings (you can get to monitor settings via it's own buttons - usually below the monitor or on the side of it)

Make sure from Nvidia control panel it is set to 144Hz refresh rate, you should be able to run 4K at 120Hz and 2K at 240Hz using DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0b to reach 120-140Hz
