I have a Dell laptop w/ windows 2000 pro. I get severe bugs every 1 to 2 yrs requiring a new harddrive everytime. Thts how bad it gets. But first it gets really slow. Its ridiculous. I have McAffe to protect it but it seems to do the opposite. Which websites should I watch out for tht might possibly have bugs on them. I really need help so that my comp dosent need another harddrive after the one im getting within the next month. Any input would be highly apprieciated.

McAfee is a POS. Download avast! AV (even comes with an internet firewall).

Also, do you format your hard drive every month or so?

Format your hdd when you find a bug that cant be removed, besides....your comp gets alot faster when you format your hdd and get another Anti-spyware/virus protection....

You need to maintain your computer on a regular basis, instead of just chucking out hard drives!

Try and run virus and adware scans once a week, defrag often, run CCleaner often etc.

All that should help, those programs generally just keep your PC clean and running fairly smooth, you can do other things but some are just a lot more hassle.

Use Avast! its the best virus detector and its free to. And get SpySweeper its the best spyware detector/remover I have ever seen, but you have to pay for it.

A good free anti-spywear tool is Spybot Search & Destroy.
