Well, i'm trying to build a budget rig and since this is my first i'm using this site as reference http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/gaming-desktop-computer.html This site has a rig that cost around 600 clams to make, all the parts, specs, ect are included in the link

Is this the best rig i can get for the price? What would you add/substitute all the while keeping the price below $700?

Its fine but upgrade your graphics card to something with a little more power, in that way you won't have to upgrade for a few years.

Here's some more information. I have around a $1200 dollar budget for a rig including monitor, keyboard, mouse and i already have those picked out. I have 850 to work with for the rest of the rig. Now besides the GPU, are the components provided in the link the best i can get for the money or can i do better?

MOBO - 90$ CPU - 145$ RAM - 60$ DVD - 23$ HDD - 90$ CASE - 75$ PSU - 140$ GPU - 240$ ---- 863$ (No OS) I don't understand why you have 400$ dedicated to K&M + monitor, but this would be pretty solid. of course some tweaks can be made to lower the price.

That GPU and PSU is pretty expensive for that build above in my opinion. I would recommend the TC get a

  1. MSI GTX 460 HaWK OC 780 core clock $189.99, free shipping, free game, 30 dollar MIR
  2. Rosewill 630 Watt PSU 55 dollars after promo code

That's basically like getting a 460 for $110. What an amazing deal.

What xsub above has would be great.

You could also replace the case xsub mentioned with something a little cheaper but will do just as well:

  • Antec 300 case $59.99

or

  • Rosewill Challenger Case $49.99

{Sorry bout that in earlier post, I meant PSU.. not CPU lol}.. The RAM, MOBO, CPU, DVD drive, xsub stated would work wonderful. Infact I have that specific ram, cpu, and dvd drive.

Ummm.... that is again a VERY expensive item.

I would suggest something like a :

  • ASUS 21.5inch 1920x1080 5ms monitor 159.99 / 149.99 after MIR

or

Just bout anything you want in a 130-160 dollar range (20-23 inch 5ms up to 1080p res)...

Personally I feel $200+ starts to get extreme for a nominal monitor the TC should be going for.

^ yes but he's got a 1200$ budget. A 21" screen is too small in my opinion. Also, I wouldn't touch anything that isn't 2ms. Anyways like I said, he has a 1200$ budget and he said he already has the monitor + K&M picked out. He also mentioned that he had 850$ left to play with because he already had those items picked out. That means he spent 350$ for a monitor and keyboard and mouse which doesn't make any sense to me. The monitor I suggested is 220$. So that would leave him 130$ for a K&M which in my opinion is overkill.

WOO 1200 dollars? His original statement was 700 dollars. Even his second statement was that 850 would be maxing for him... Regardless, he is overkilling on price in my opinion.. 700-800 will getcha everything you need. Regardless though, a 21.5 inch for 149.99 is a very nice deal.
