Also, does Corsair usually have a Black Friday ad or coupon code that comes out each year?

I haven't really looked as I just recently upgraded a bunch of my components. I may get a NVMe drive if I find a 500GB one for cheap but I don't know how much use it will be over my SSD for OS drive.

A 1TB Samsung 860 evo is going for $150 and a 2 TB Samsung 860 Evo for $300 as well. These SSDs are getting cheap.

I also already have a 970 Pro M.2 (512GB) sitting in my desk waiting to be my OS drive as well in the new build.

I don't get the point of huge SSDs, unless you need your whole game catalog installed at once

@npiet1: I have already had one of my HDD die. Pretty crappy. I store my games that I am currently playing on SSDs though. And SSDs are getting way cheaper and will drop even more next year. HDDs may become extremely cheap as prices are going to get closer. There are rumors of SSDs dipping to $.08/GB by next year.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they went that low. I saw a thread on here about 5 months ago. Asking if next gen would have ssd's. I wouldn't thought they would back then. But now, maybe.

Thinking of buying 1Tb SSD, prices are about 57% of our local prices, but then again if I got any problem with the product it's going to be sent offboard and a month for me to be without that part...

Yeah, I want an M.2 form factor SSD to replace my aging 120GB SSD.

I have an HDD from 2006 and it's still not dead.

With that said, I know Cooler Master is doing some early black friday deals.

I'm looking at a WD blue. I don't need anything fancy. SATA speed is enough actually. However a 2TB one still cost a lot =/ Oh well hopefully a good offer this black friday.

@horgen: SATA is fine for everyday use for me. I got a 970 Pro 512GB and 2 1TB 860 evos (m.2 form factor). I have a 1TB 860 evo and a 500GB 850 evo brand new in box just sitting around. If I need more then I’ll throw those in there.

Also the 1TB 860 evo are under $130 right now.

I wish those were under 130$ here. That one along with Crucial MX500 1TB are equivalent of 180$ here.

Does it any of them come with some kind of cloning software? Last time I had some trouble with cloning a SSD because of the MBR.

Yea...that sucks if they are that expensive where you live. I just received my X399 Asus ROG Zenith Extreme motherboard today (Threadripper 2990WX arriving in the mail tomorrow) and it has 3 m.2 slots. So, that is what I went with. I haven't bought ram yet...probably going with an 8x8GB configuration but can't decide if I want the 3200 or the 3600 kit as I do not know what impact it will bring.

@Diddies: 3600 MHz over 3200MHz. Infiniti fabric runs at RAM speed I think.

I know that Ryzen and Threadripper really come out more with faster RAM, but can't find much on a 2990WX with 3200 vs 3600.

I don't see why it would be any different for their workstation CPUs.

@horgen: I do not have much knowledge on their workstation CPUs as they are similar, but if you try and do any search on this CPU and ram, there isn’t much out there.

First released with their 2XXX CPUs. So not much user experience and info available because of that I guess.

Edit: I went for a Samsung M.2 SSD. Sata 6GB interface. I expect cloning my current C-drive will be easy. However transferring the content on my D drive to it will be more problematic. I don't know what to do there.

@horgen: awesome. SSDs are getting cheaper. Also I have the threadripper 2990wx but I was thinking you were talking about solely the epyc processors.

Their Epyc lineup has Octa channel ram, hasn't it? I think that makes up for the problem somewhat.

Edit: Yeah this will be nice with the M.2 SSD. Getting rid of the two SSD I already got. At least I can get rid of them. Less cables. I think the 500GB one will go to my second computer.

Just copped a Sapphire Vega64 + 3 moderately decent games from Newegg for 400 bucks. Since my monitor is FreeSync, I couldn't pass it by. In the Christmas spirit, I'm giving my current RX580 to a friend and they are giddy :) I love PC gaming <3

Not sure if I need to wait for the card to get here. I didn't see where the voucher was when I made the order.
