Battlefield games are games of teamwork...period.  A HUGE part of teamwork is communication.  Now, there are lots of options like origin chat, mumble, etc, but in BF3 those options are not very well used.  Here's my solution...feel free to agree or rip as you see fit.

Squads chat with themselves automatically, but not with other teammates.

Squad Leaders chat with Commander.

Eh?  Simple, effective, and it keeps things more realistic in the game as squads can chat together, and the Commander can organize by just chatting with the squad leaders.

Sounds like MAG, that worked well when your squad leader was actually good and talked.

supposedly it does have VOIP, commanders can talk to squad leaders, and I assume squad leaders can then talk to the squad

It's on the Battlefield 4 sub reddit. One of the dev team or PR guys for BF4 was saying how it's completely in-game right now on the PC. You can even talk to people who are playing on their tablet as the commander.

Finally the nexus 7 can be put to good use.

Squad leader > Commander. Squad to Squad, sounds perfect to me.

Now if we can get an actual working commo-rose.

Good to hear, I was not expecting much from BF4 but what we have seen and heard so far is sounding very good, cant wait to try that city level from E3, looks amazing with good teamwork.

I had my doubts about Battlefield 4, but not anymore. They literally added everything I wanted in Battlefield 3.

Yeah that map looks very interesting. They look way more fun than the BF3 maps. I felt like the scale was larger too.

Also commander is an extra slot now. 32 players on each team and then + 1 commader. Commander is a dedicated slot now. You can't both play and command, you're doing one or the other.

Fantastic.

I'll never use it and I'll probably using the mute button quite a bit but if this makes others happy and it increases the community, I'm glad.

That's how I feel commander mode should be. Otherwise, it could be like one guy running around barely using it. Now it's more dedicated for the strategic minded player that doesn't have to worry about playing in game at all.
