They may be the best bang for buck but really:

QX6850

x2 8800 Ultras

P35 mobo

DDR3 RAM? (1600mhz +)

RAID 0 Raptors

the p35 ds3r is a better overclocker, than the 680i. and the 650i mobo is just as good as the 680i, except it doesnt have SLI. which isnt worth the money, unless playing on very high resolutions.

if you dont wanna use SLI and wanna OC like crazy get the p35 ds3r and some HZ ram. this one guy got his e6300 to 3.6ghz.

Best bang for buck would probably be something like:

E6750/E6850 or Q6600

2GB DDR2 800/1066 RAM

P35 Mobo (Preferably Gigabyte!)

If you wanted fast HDDs then two cheap 80GB in RAID 0, and a 500GB storage drive.

The choice of CPU and RAM would depend on your desire to OC, you could save money by choosing an E6750 or even a E6550 and Overclocking to E6850 (or higher speeds), but you may need faster (1066) RAM to achieve thsi. If you dont want to OC much (or at all), only 800mhz RAM is needed.
