Best Overall Roman Strategy Game

Right now im lookin to buy a Roman strategy game. But there are just too many to choose from. Theres dozens including Rome: Total War, Praetorians, and coming soon The History Channel's Greatest Battles of Rome. There are many more and I want to know in your opinion what is the best. It dosen't even have to be a roman strategy game. For example, there is the civ series and the aoe series.

Big but here though. My comp is a piece of... u no wat... and it cant run the latest games like Civ 4 and AoE 3. Well i havent tried AoE 3 but I doubt it will work. Anyway I'd really want to hear every1's opininons.

RTW is hands down the best, and if your computer can run it, definately get it.Tsunami23

Agreed.With the exception ofTotal War, all the games you listed are onshakey to mediocre ground. RTW (the Total War series in general), on the other hand, is a uniquely great all-around game. I believe there's a demo; download that and you should have a sense of whether it works for your machine. If it does; never mind first impressions. Purchase. You'll grow to love it. (Go ahead and buy Medieval & Medieval 2 when you get around to it).

Rome total war is the best total war game and bet roman war rts in my opinion

Thx for the input i really appreciate it! Yea i tried the RTW demo and it worked fine on my comp except ive get a few questions cause the demo was REALLY limited. People said u have to like build cities and stuff right? What im trying to say is they ont just give u an army and u fight a battle.

Yea and World in COflict graphics look amazing and so dothe trailers, but my comp isn't fast enough...i think. And i tried AoE3 and i could probly run it but ittells me i dont have xp soi cant run it...watever.

I just saw there was a RTW called Alexander...is tht any good?

theres a thing called RTW: Eras which has RTW, RTW Barbarian, RTW Alexander, and all their expansion packs.

Oh and wat ive noticed is that Amazon.com has the cheapest games out of anybody. They even have a wider selection then EBGames...especially when it comes to PC games.

To answer your first question, RTW doesn't just give you men and have you go off to battle. In the actual retail version you can do Skirmishes, where you pick a number of men, a number of enemy men, and go at it on a battlefield, or you can do the campaign mode where you have to train/build men from your cities and march around the map conquering other people.

RTW Alexander was only one game, and I'm pretty sure it's just another expansion along with Barbarian Invasion. But if they carry a package with the base game and it's expansions, then by all means get it.

Yea RTW sounds like an awesome game but 1 more question. If u had to decide between buying Civ III Complete and RTW Gold Ed. wat would u buy. Thx again for all the input... ithought this would be like my first forum... no posts lol =Phock3yl1f3

anyway ive learned if u want to recommend RTW force the person NOT to try the demo. The demo makes it look like a mediocre game. The Praetorians demo looks so much better and so does the Civ III demo. but i believe u guys/girls (idrc) and ill probly get RTW thx. I still appreciate more input though thx.

i just noticed tht gamefly dosent have pc games to rent...wt* is w/ tht. I mean i always knew tht blockbuster and hollywood video only had console games, but man this is frecking gamefly.
