So im currently building a new PC, but realized a problem I travel alot-and in the past I carried a heavy 17 inch power hungry alienware. Anyways being that flights and trips are longer; I would like something that can game-but is a sleek profile.

I have stumbled upon the Razer Blade 14 inch laptop and noticed its almost $2000 USD, the cost is not a problem, but is there anything comparable or more powerful?

Any other laptops you recommend? I just want the most I can get in a 14 inch laptop without making it a 10 pound weight that I have to plug in every 20 minutes

Razr Blade is gorgeous, but the price is pretty high (especially in Aus where it for some reason costs an extra $400). There's MSI's 14" gamer. Specs aren't quite as good as the Blade, but it's much cheaper.

Here's a good site for comparing laptop GPUs. Keep in mind, the MSI notebook has a lower resolution (1600x900 vs 1920x1080 on the Blade), so while the GPU is slower, framerates may even be higher on the MSI. You do however sacrifice that higher PPI, (1600x900 on 14" should still look pretty good, though).

haha so I see its moderately powerful-haha just wondering why its all at 1920x1080, wouldn't both of these laptops handle most games at high say at 1280x720, or 1336x768? How about 1600x900 like the MSI?

I just looked the blade is 1600x900 too! not 1920x1080 like we both thought!

It's a great site for comparing GPU's. Also check out CPU Boss for CPU comparisons. http://cpuboss.com/

Strange, I was sure it had a 1080p screen when I first read about it. Dammit, I keep Spelling "Razer" as "Razr". Stupid Motorola.

You guys were thinking about the Razer Blade Pro model. The Pro model has 1920x1080

so then 765m is good for that resolution? Or still a bit lower for smooth gameplay?

The 765M should be able to get a higher FPS on 1600x900 than 1920x1080. Higher FPS = smoother movement and less motion blur.

Yeah, was probably getting specs mixed up between the two. Knowing the GE40 has the same resolution as the Razer Blade, suddenly makes the GE40 much more appealing to me. To be honest, all I really care about in a laptop is; decent resolution, good CPU/RAM and excellent battery life. Dunno what the battery life is like on the GE40, I would assume it's similar to the Blade. I really don't need a new laptop, but I've been looking for a reason to buy one... Anyway, if I were to choose between the Blade and the GE40, I'd go the GE40. Blade: Looks much nicer and sleeker. Slightly lighter (100g) Slightly better GPU 3 USB 3.0 (vs 2x3.0 + 1x2.0 on GE40 (not really a big deal) GE40: MUCH cheaper Can get a decent amount of storage without paying a truckload on a high capacity SSD Still looks pretty damn good and is still quite light Ethernet VGA + HDMI (Blade only has HDMI) That's how I see it, without going too in-depth.

Can i find SSD for cheaper then the sites? I am also considering the brand new alienware 14 but not sure yet, they seem just a bit higher then MSI (obviously) but the one model has 1336x768, would that look bad? I am just weary of super high res, like when I got my alienware m9750 (1920x1200) well obviously my mobile gpu was like ya definitely not happing!

The thing I hate most about my current laptop is the 1336x768 resolution, my next laptop will have to have a higher resolution. But then again, I don't game on my laptop, so I wouldn't care what impact the higher resolution had on performance.

It think 1600x900 is the sweet spot for that screen size, it gives you more desktop space and will be sharper without being pointlessly sharp and killing performance.

my only concern with the 765m is how well it will play next gen games. the blade pro is nice 1920x1080 but that graphics card is really only capable of playing on 1600x900 with high settings. Anyways time will tell

My 670gt in my Asus g75 runs games pretty well at 1080p like skyrim, CS:GO, bioshock: infinite. Though I use my desktop for really demanding games.

Razer is perfect, you can also try DELL XPS15 for a budget around $1500.
