Hey everyone! I've always been a huge fan of the survival horror genre on consoles, but recently made the jump to PC. So far, I've found an intense love for games like Amnesia and Penumbra, so I've been on the hunt for both paid and free titles on the market. At the moment, I've got 1916, Au Sable, and the entire set of the SCP series (SCP087, SCP-087-B, and Containment Breach). I've also bookmarked The Snowfield, Morningstar, and The Fog Fall. Euthanasia was another one I tried, but I ran into a lot of installation errors trying to make it work. I've also already played some of the more well-known titles that may be similar (Call of Cthulu, F.E.A.R., Doom 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, etc). So, to all of the PC pros out there, anything worth trying that you could recommend? Thanks in advance!

Dark Fall 3: Lost Souls

Day Z

Amnesia

Penumbra

Condemned 1

Stalker series

Clive Barker's Undying

Pathologic

The 11th Hour

WhiteDay: A Labyrinth Named School

Downfall

Over the years those are the games that have given me the most "Survival Horror" feel personally. I know you have played some of those, but just wanted to list all the ones over the years that I enjoyed.

Scratches added to wishlist. I'll definitely reinstall Half Life and download the Cry of Fear mod. As for the others, they will be bookmarked on Amazon come purchase time. Thanks for the input KillerJuan!

Nice list! I noticed that several of them require an RPGMaker program to run. I'll definitely bookmark them and get to work on those later on tonight. There are so many underlooked games out there. It's a shame so many of them go unnoticed.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream is mostly a VERY depressing sci-fi adventure (Even the best ending is sad) but I can't believe I forgot that one and Sanitarium.

As for Corpse Party, TC, if you have a PSP then get it on your PSP. It's 20 bucks and it haves tons of endings.

You know KillerJuan, I've never been much of a handheld guy. I owned a DS Lite for the Castlevania games, briefly owned a PSP just for Dracula X Chronicles, and of course, owned a GameBoy Color for the legendary Pokemon Yellow when I was a little guy. Lol. If I ever get a PSP again, I'll make sure to pick it up though.

I also want to add

- Slender, which I'm sure EVERYONE has heard about by now (FREE)

- Dead Space, which is a bit repetitive but also very atmospheric and creepy

- Thief: Deadly Shadows isn't a horror game, but it has one of the scariest levels in a videogame

- Silent Hill 3

And like, a bunch more.

you listed the ones I know about, but I figured I'd mention the MISERY mod for STALKER: Call Of Pripyat.
it adds a lot and kind of makes the game more based around survival.

they're close-ish to releasing a big update for it soon.

half life 2 with the nightmare house 2 mod was really good.

Btw, im not sure if this is still an issue, but Cryostasis isnt the most technologically "good" game. Expect a good 15-20 fps if youre lucky.

Certainly not optimized well, but for the most part I had >45 FPS with the occasional stutter bringing it down to the 20s.
