So I was originally going to get into the game through the Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced Edition but was then alerted to the possibility that the game is poorly made and buggy. Im not sure if I totally believe that but with that in mind I started looking at other options. Right now there are two places where I could buy DRM-Free copies: Gog.com and Gamersgate.com.

Right now I can get the D&D Anthology for $5 at Gamersgate.com with:

  • Baldurs Gate I&II
  • Icewind Dale I&II
  • Planetscape: Torment
  • The Temple of Elemental Evil

BUT I was wondering if the version of the game is better in one place or the other. I hear good things about the Gog.com copy of BG2 and generally like GoG.com much better than GamersGate. I dont know what common opinion of the sites are so I decided to make this thread.

I know that the GamersGate deal is a lot of bang for my buck but Im not honestly sure Id have time to play all those games anyway. I mainly wanted to play Baldur's Gate II since it seems to be the best and most popular of the games. What comments do you guys have on the sites, and what comments do you have on the Enhanced Edition of BG2?

Thanks.

Seems like a good deal. GoG had a D&D "bundle" on sale a few days ago but I still think for $5 you can't go wrong with the deal you're getting.

Oh, and one small correction, ToE is the best D&D game in that bundle. Hell, I personally liked BG1 more than 2 and I liked Icewind Dale better than both of them.

Many of the most popular mods aren't optimized for the enhanced editions, which is why a lot of people prefer the originals. but if you arent gonna bother with mods I would get the enhanced editions.

In regards to bugs: I didn't experience any in the original EE, but I cant say for BGII EE since I havent had a chance to play it yet. I also dont agree that it was poorly made; sure they didnt change a whole lot, but what they did add is on par with the rest of the game and fits in quite well.
